Wondering about those GTI discs you put on the car - they looked a bit thin.

Paul if you compare the GTI discs to the original solid discs, the GTI are discs i estimate are around 10mm thicker.

at the moment im looking for another rear gearbox mount!!! anyone got one lying around???

Actually, I'm very familiar with the GTI rotors. My question related to the amount of wear on the discs in pic, knowing new rotors aren't that expensive.

finally after a day of organizing a few helping hands to come along we had this innocent, ex-diesel, mk1 under the knife and transplanted 1.8l carby with a 5 speed box!! basically everything turned out pretty smooth, resprayed and installed the radiator an overflow, modified a few houses to fit the radiator, washer bottle in place and plumbed up, brake booster resprayed and put in place, capped a few points off that aren't needed in the process, drive shafts all greased up and bolted on ......

Theirs always 2 sides to a story now the negative side! a few scratches in the engine bay due to having heavy hands adjusting the engine crane (my old man), rear gearbox mount was incinerated so couldn't bolt up the front and rear until i found another one (got one delivered the next day from this good bloke on the forum, much appreciated!), drive shafts kept going under the sump which irritated us and made this process even longer, nearly kinked all the brake lines and not enough time radius to work within! geese i whinge about everything

here is my progress so far!
    before spray painting the booster

after spray painting the booster (my old mans quote "brand new second hand")

    before engine installed

    after engine and extras installed

    This sucks!
I hooked my clutch cable to the gearbox lever and clutch pedal and as soon as I tested the clutch pedal to see the durability of the cable it decided to punch straight through the firewall! Arghhhh
I think I might have to make a plate and spot weld on!
Has anyone got another helping option?

Thanks for that Pete! Ill need to invest in one of thoes plates!

    Update:
brought a 32/36 weber and inlet manifold from alamomotorsport last week and also visited Peter from Thornbury carburettors during the week to get him to assemble the weber, manifold and all the linkages! I didn't assemble the weber myself because I don't trust myself, bits and pieces seem to go missing with me!
The weber came back from Peter on Friday and whitest I had free time on my hands today I decided to install it and this is how it looks!
