    5teve's mk1

woahhhh its about time ive started a thread about this lemon i brought a while ago!
okay lets get on with this!!

Well this is how it all started!
So my cousin from Sydney drove down his 1977 Honda Civic for the long weekend so as a p-Plate i asked if i could take it for a spin, I took the car around the block and there was a guy who was up my ass continually high beaming me so i stopped at my local shopping center to see what this gentleman wanted, He turned out to be a photographer from a site which is gripshiftslide.com. This bloke was really enthusiastic about this little civic so asked if he could take some pictures....
So just as he was about to leave he gave me his card so i can take a look on how this photo shoot went.
Week later i went onto the site and had a look, couldn't complain about the shoot that was taken at 10pm. So after visualizing this photoshoot i had clicked back to scan the site which was full of modified cars and what caught my attention was a shoot just before my cousins which was George's mk1!! this lead me to a new path to search for a mk1 golf..
3 weeks of searching for a mk1 golf on gumtree, carsales in victoria payed off! found a 1980 mk1 GLD very minimal rust in Traralgon Victoria, the golf set me back $500 with the bottom ends smashed and also ran out of rego 2 weeks before i brought it, had done 500,xxx clicks on single engine and interior is immaulate exept the driver seat.
I had decent conversation with the owner which was a young girl by the name of Amy, she briefly gave me a history about this golf.
This car was basically brought new from a Volkswagen dealer from Amy's grandparents, as her grandfather passed away her grandmother decided to hand it over to her daughter (Amy's mother), time went by so Amy's mother went for a car search and found herself a new car and passed the golf to her daughter which was unhappy to see this car go!
brought this lemon back home and started stripping it! as a plumber i don't know much about the car department, and its about time i get some knowledge from this rabbit!

ill be posting up pictures once i get time
thanks for your time reading guys lets hope this thread gets interesting!

Whats your plans for this bud? Haha yeah the feature on little golf was cool.

What engine are you going to run? If i was to do anything, i would put in a 1.8 from a seat cordoba, with a passat manifold and 32/36 weber. Such a cheap and simple setup but really effective. Keen to see more!

Hey George I've found a 1.8l adz off a mk3 golf that's going into This mk1 with a 5 speed 020 box, just trying to make the engine bay as simple as possible! Ive also got a manifold attached to the motor would there be another easier solution to get a webber that'a adaptable ?

It's back at home now! Took him a few months to paint the bay and at the end of his process **** hit the fan!
He didnt end up sanding anything down what so ever and decided to stone guard the bay and use a silver paint that just flakes off, he also didn't mask anything so most of the wires and cables are silver and the boots of the steering rack have been sliced so need to get a pair of thoes!
He put me off so I had attempt and reached my set task stripping all the paint and go back to bare metal!
After a few weeks working on the car couldn't take work off so it also minimized the hours I finally got it back to bare metal! Ill post some picks later.

Jarred the engine hasn't gone in because of all the mess around once I get the engine bay primed and rust converted ill be getting ready to drop it in got a few things to alter.
While I was waiting for the car I had purchased a set of JOM coilovers from veedub machine and a set of bbs replica wheels which are 15x7+20, just looking for a stretched effect on all 4!
