Sundays are ment to be rest days! what am i doing stressing out over this!! ive been fiddling around with this accelerator cable to get it into the throttle leaver on the weber and it just doesnt seem right to me.
theres something with this cable that looks odd, i think i might be wrong. would it be easier to buy a cable with a hooked end so it hooks in the throttle hole?
need suggestions!

The cable you've got is supposed to clip onto a small ball the size of the hole in the end of the cable. It looks like a small bolt but the bolt head is spherical. The threaded part of the bolt goes through the hole on the carby plate.

Either get the ball from your friendly carby shop or get the correct cable.

Thanks for that clarification Paul, I had a feeling something was missing, it didnt look right when I was aligning the cable and throttle lever! Ill have to pop into a carby shop to find myself a 8mm throttle ball

thanks browneye! when you get started on your resto get some advise from vww users before attempting something your not 100% sure on! ive rushed so much on this and i regret it!!!

After observing ideas on getting the cable to the throttle lever i decided to attempt a backyard job! slicing and dicing.......
ive cut one side of the bracket to make sure that the cable will be alright to slip into the hole and connected the bracket onto the rocker cover. i also cut off the end of the accelerator cable (a socket type of connecter that clips into a ball) so its just cable. i connected the cable it to the throttle lever rod! after finalizing this procedure i worked out that there was another way of doing it. the 2nd way didnt consist of altering the cable or the bracket! just remove the washers off the cable and feed thru the hole and remove the lever rod and attach the socket side of the cable into the ball and clip it on:facepalm:
At the end of the day i got this mechanism to work! slicing and dicing done the trick :banana:

Had an early day at TAFE and i had something in mind with this golf so I popped into bunnings and found myself a piece of 9mm plywood offcut.
The boot area had a sag in the underlay and vinyl and needed to be strengthen so here's some pictures of what I had done!
