    3/4 throttle hesitation!

hey guys had this problem for ages and i cannot figure out what it could be!!!

when you drive normally its fine but as soon as you put your foot down just a lil bit it splutters and goes weird!!! If yo go go full throttle its fine (hesitates a tiny bit but not much).

    any ideas?

and also the 3mm allen key near the fuel distributor...is that the fuel mixture screw?

    cheers guys

Yup 3mm allen key adjusts mixture. Left is Lean, Right is Rich.
Go in quarter turns or less when you get close.
Take the tool with you and road tune it

You can adjust using the Bentley's Manual or by having a look around the web for the correct dwell angle settings I believe it is 45. Here's one from Cabbyinfo:

You can get a dwell meter at an auto shop or some electronics shops (Jaycar) with positive probe going into diagnostic plug near passenger side strut tower and negative earthed to vehicle.
Also you may wish to check your Oxygen Sensor if the dwell angle adjustment does not improve performance.

Is your vacuum advance hooked up?

If your car has the electronic dizzy that usually goes on a K-Jet motor you won't be able to play with the dwell angle as paulie suggests, it's fixed by the ignition module. It's worth a shot if it's got a Kettering (points) distributor though.

You need to set that mixture right too, for that you really need a CO meter, you're aiming for 2.0% CO. Bring it 'round one day nd I'll dial it up for you.
