That is such a sweet looking MK1. Well done in keeping it original as I know I can't resist the temptation to modify a bit here and a bob there to make it more modern to drive.

Your not looking for modern, just reliable starting haha.
Congratulations on the article! It looks so good in those pics, it has come a long way since you have owned it.
My GTI has now gone to Mick's place for some love and attention. It has a warm start issue that needs rectifying (ie. if the car is warm and has sat for 10-15 minutes it won't start for another 45 minutes or so).
Fingers crossed Mick can remedy the situation for me while the missus and I try and remedy the debacle that our house reno/extension has become.
Do a serch on vortex for "hot start relay" if that is no avail message me here and I will scan and email you the wiring / relay etc. It was a problem with the 8Valve cars for ages ( heat soak from the engine once parked) has happened to me only a few times in the madness that is summer.
For an instant fix, remove the rubber banjo over the metering head, lift the air plate with pliers while cranking the engine, it will allow the fuel vapour to exit the injectors til fuel liquid comes out allowing the engine to fire. reassemble and drive. tooling is a screw driver and a pair of pliers as well as another person.
car is looking its usual brilliant self Liam.
Good luck with the house issue !!
Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...
If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??
Cheers,
Grant...
