i have a great love for the clio renaultsport models. they rev their absolute balls off. who ever heard of a stock 16v golf producing 182bhp. they're how i'd imagine a golf mk2 gti 16v would have been when it first came out. revvy and chuckable.

that said, i dont find them that aesthetically attractive, but for a cheap hot hatch, not many come close.

hope you love the thing cam.

Yeah I looked at a few S3's but in the price range I am looking at (17-18k) they either have huge klms (I know it does not matter in a euro but still) or have gastly leather

I like that 01 model but they dont really do it for me looks wise. Leather recaros do it for me though. What sort of weight is a S3? 135kw or something right?

Bloody oath mate, When I was test driving them, I test drove 2 182 Cups, 1 182 non-cup and 6 different 172s. The 172s are very nice and have a little more tourqe than the 182 Cups but the 182s just feel so much more solid and they handle awesomely. I like the size and regardless of what motoring journalists say, the seats are comfy and I am comfy in the drivers position.. then again, I am about half the height of Jeremy Clarkson.

Seriously, power to weight of a lotus elise but with the convenience of a hatch back... think about that guys

French quirkyness versus German engineering mate. Good Luck with that.

Just for the record I have been in lots of French cars including clios. I reckon the first Clio Williams was a good looking car, each succeeding Generation has had a bigger hit with the ugly stick.

Yeah I have actually, in France last year! Was there on the first day and walked in to a Dealer on the Fran DeleSaye (Main road in Paris that runs from the lourve to the Arc de Triumph) Got to test drive one the following day I tell you left hand drive is super weird. But I could test drive one cause I walked in with a international license!

Anyway to tell you the truth it has good acceleration and then its like premature ejaculation its got nothing going for it!

    HAHAHAAHA! good call!
well i can't really add much to this myself, except that some clio's can look reasonable except I reckon you'd be paying for that 17-18k for the ones in mind.
If you're going french just get a 205, u used to have one right? as did i they fly and handle well, but tbo i'd rather drive the golf any day.
cam buy a vr! spend some money and wooooo you'll have some fun with that

The mk1 forum was always going to give you a biased opinion on a French car

    Best of luck.

Anyway, back to the mk1. I bought some new underlay yesterday. Foam with a sound proof layer on it and also some nice rubber to go on top of that. No more stinky mk1 interior. Cost around $180 for all that material but some will go into the Jazz as its like a tin box.

Cleaned up bits and peices on the body, found some replacement mirrors and rear spats. Ordered some new side trim and it will all go on tomorrow. (4yr anniversary today so I have got buckleys)

Now to get the auto box connected again and the engine running with it again. Woot
