have a search. there's plenty of info about 15x7's with coilovers and it'll practically be the same for 16x7's.
hey guys i did search before i posted but didn't really find the info im after i have a set of 16x7 wheels i want to run on my mk1 i can get them in any offset i want my current 16s don't clear my coil overs i have to run 5mm spacers for clearance im assuming not 100% sure that the current 16x7s are +40 offset so basically i want the new wheels to clear the coilovers and id like a little poke to get the old school look but nothing silly needs to be drivable

Ran 16 x 7.5's on my storm until it came off the road... ( et 38 ) rubbed on standard rear springs and arches under suspension bump conditions...
so if your going down to 16 x7 and reduce the offset to less than 35 ( 40 - 5 mm spacers) you should be pretty close to optimal IMO.

Lots of MK 1 Scirocco's...
If it aint a MK 1 then it must be a donor car ??
Cheers,
Grant...
i had ET30 and ET35 rear on a 16x7 and the rears were fine but the 16's were close to rubbing on the front guards and the coilovers, once tyres went on them, theres no chance in having em on and working with a properly lowerd car, itll look like a steamroller t make 16's work properly, and lets not forget what a crap tyre range we have in aust
EDIT, and to get any sort of poke theres no way in hell youd poke a set of 16's... theyd need to be in the ET10's and lower to see anything out the guards
