Not sure if it suits your style but I have a friend looking to offload some 13x6 4x100 ET25 minilite reps if youre interested. Not sure how they go fitment wise on a mk1. All are in excellent condition and plenty tread on the tyres. cheap cheap.

I just went to a place in Geelong called Steel Shack design. I've had some stuff like windscreen wipers blaster/powdercoated by them before. It set me back $40 a wheel for blasting, which in hindsight is more than I would like to have spent.
Any deep scratches I flapper-wheeled out, then I gave them a scotchy (3M Scotchbrite), prepsol (wax and grease remover), then primed with primer surfacer, scotchied that, then wipe the dust off with a tac-rag, then more prepsol, and then came paint; a thin layer first up, then another 5 or 6 even coats, and let that cure for about 4 days I think, before I re-mounted the tires.

A fair bit too much effort I think. If I did it again I'd just wire-wheel/sand the faces, prepsol, etch prime, primer surfacer, scotchy, more prepsol then paint.
I didn't start with the straightest wheels either, so they're fairly out-of-balance.

But they look better. I've got some base-model center-caps coming (the small black ones over the hub centers), and I'll be happy with that for a while hopefully.
I have a bit of an infatuation with wheels. Actually, it's a big infatuation, but I just don't have the cash to get into it.

    ...one day.

    I appreciate that Tim!
I'm not too sure. Not really what I'm after though. I want something sort of rare/cult-like.
Not that I can afford sht now anyway.

    Thanks though!

    New suspension arrived today.
I'll probably install them tomorrow night.

Tonight I gave the threaded section of the shafts a good coating with this:

I've had coilovers in another car before. The same night they arrived I was straight under the car chucking them in.
Long story short: raising the car sucked!

There's a lot more room in the wheel-arches in a Golf than in a MX5, which should help too.

Since I bought the car I was hoping to fork out a bit more and get something a bit more reputable, like KW V1's, but these popped up, and thanks to Alex (mrlex) I've got 'em.

Now all I should need for RWC are brake pads/rotors and a windscreen.
    Just gotta get motivated!

Cheers Anth. I appreciate that, because your 510 build thread is awesome.
You attend the Melbourne meets much? For VWW and JDMST?
I'll meet you at one of them man!

One of the other reasons I wanted a MK1 is because they seem simple as to me. I wanna tool-up and learn to do everything on this.

Got the front coil-overs in tonight. I don't have good garage lighting and it was dark.

Yes, that's my excuse. I'll probably have the others in tomorrow night.
    Although, >100mm
