Thanks a lot guys.
I'm pretty damn happy with it.
I feel like this car makes up for a lot of mistakes with respect to cars. Buying bad ones, selling awesome ones and regretting it, etc.
Going to get to work on the easy stuff tomorrow.
That interior is the ants-pants for originality...top find !!
BTW, love the Merc. also....W108 Mercs. have always been my favourites , having owned a couple in the past (280SE 3.5's)

Turns out I'm the least motivated person ever.
I've done a few little things to the car, but nothing that needs to be done.
The car is hard-parked at my parents place. After work I usually go over there, look at the car, take it for a quick/stealthy spin just for the sake of it, then park it, without really advancing towards roadworthiness at all.
(Keep in mind I haven't even washed or polished the car yet)
I put the straight(er) rear bumper on, only to notice that the rear end is very slightly pushed inwards. I pulled off the rear garnish just after I bought the car (holes will be welded up... eventually)
There was a pretty ugly dent where the number plate would have been screwed on, so I straightened that out to the best of my abilities.
Repainted all the door handles and gave the chrome trim bits a quick polish.
Got some seat covers that my Nan approves of. Such a good match to the interior colours!
Something I picked up at Jamboree, then modified a little bit.
Got a new fuel cap and a hatch strut.
Found that I have a co-driver/navigator.
The resting place:
Found that I need to replace some exhaust gaskets at the manifold. Might be a good time to remove the emission reduction stuff too (if I can work out what's what)
I also got a wheel alignment done by a mate.
Tried to make a grommet for the most obvious shift linkage at the back of the engine bay, and failed. Felt a fair bit better before it dropped out.
I'll get a repair kit for that soon too hopefully... if my finances pick up and I find some motivation.
So there you have an update.
I want to have this thing going before winter. Once I've sold my VR6 I will hopefully get rego and maybe a present for the car (x4 )
hahaha i also have a co-pilot in my golf.... somewhere.. we've crossed paths once or twice.. and i tried to bash it to pieces.. they are flippin quick though, so i've gotta keep eyes in the back of my head
I'll probably **** myself when I'm driving and it crawls across my face.
It's just a baby now, by the time my car's on the road it'll probably look like Aragog.
That interior is in as good as condition as the interior in my 77 MkI. Just goes to show that they do exist.
No idea sorry man. I was searching for one since I bought the car.
Maybe try air-cooled sites, as I think it was supposed to fit a Beetle.
Got my 13's back from the sand-blasters.
Made a massive fck up and forgot to specify I only want the faces blasted.
There's a LOT more work to do now.
Repainted a 'VOLKSWAGEN' badge that I'll swap onto my car, also did a 'golfGLD' one too that I'll hustle off to someone once I'm happy with it.
Pictures tomorrow night.
Priming
Badge
Found these. Slammed ramps I'm dying to use again. Just to get my car high enough for the trolley-jack (90mm or so).
Rewarding.
Need to get this thing on the road. Wasting my time doing the wrong stuff first.
I want it to be respectable so it's condition doesn't decline and I'm not embarrassed by it.
