Get the feeling I'm not going to make it anywhere any time soon.
Degreased and pressure-washed the bay today.
Also replaced all the multi-coloured vacuum lines with plain black ones, neatens it up a fair bit i think. (obviously a bit of painting to do)
Now the bad news. Turning the car over results in plug #1 copping some oil. Starts but won't idle and only on three cylinders.
Now I probably jumped the gun and assumed it's rings or valve seats/seals. Could it have anything to do with me plugging the EGR holes in the front of the head?
If perhaps I didn't cut a bolt down enough could it be fouling on a valve and making it not seal properly, hence oil?
I don't have anybody here to help me do a compression test. So might get to that tomorrow if someone's around.
It ran fine before I plugged the EGR holes... Only other things I've done since the last time it ran is replace the intake and exhaust manifold gaskets...
Get Tim round...
Ha yeah that's an option, don't wanna nag him though.
The whole point of this car is for me to learn how to do all this **** myself. Haha.![]()
have you tried it with the EGR hole bolts backed off a bit??
put a diesel in it. They run on oil.
