just to let you guuys know our dubs are a never ending money pit, and if the money is there for you to spend its very scary!!!! ive pumped $28,000 in to mine with $25,000 of receipts over the last 2 years it all adds up very quickly, but i could build similar car for $15000 now doing it myself and im not about to start over again!! well not yet anyway

    $28000
Don't get me wrong I love my golfs, but with many other priorities in life I always try not to spend more than what I can get back in return for a project car! Common sense always gets the better of me which obviously limits my projects! I know of a guy in Tassie who spent $28000 on a MK1 back in the 80's and could only get $12000 when he decided to sell it as soon as it was finished!

finemk1, How in the world did you spend $28k on a mk1 golf!?!?!?!?!? Does it run 8 second quarters or have quatro running gear? For that money you must have a 20v 1.8t or a 2.1L twincam with a motec. I would want a show car that eats 911's for that kind of money.
MK1 floG soon to have 16v 2L with cable change gbox - need a 16v turbo manifold

"Fit the gearbox ya bum." Loon - best post ever!

Could have a 20+k sound system?
It does not take much to eat that kind of money these days. Especially if you pay people to do the work, and get overseas components etc.

The best Golf I have seen was around $250,000+ ok it has 900+ HP and is an animal.

8secs i wish, im aiming for low 13s high 12s hey it doesnt even run hahaaha oh dear, but it will soon but i didnt have 28 large with the intention to spend it all on a golf, its just buying the best of the best stuff for it its all german made mods i know buying cheap stuff will make me buy twice, , nothing else is foriegn except for those wheels, which bothers me to the extreme but there good for bouncing of f gutters so ill keep em for a while, dont get me wrong if i had 28gs at the start, id have a 4wd 2.1L turbo monsta mk1, if i was to sell it id aim for 10grand flat with the new motor in of course or id consider a swap..... hell its only money, you should see my previos rides, hahahaha damn

The best formula is not to add it up.
Its only money ,you could be pissing it up or have a bad drug addiction, paying alimoney, girlfriend on the side , gamble on the horses, race cars etc
    Don't ever feel guilty.
    Just do it
