Yes it's doable, but to consider it ask yourself: Do I have $2500 in my pocket to spend/waste on this. If the answer is no, don't bother.
Xenon was only availble on the GTI as a option. Is it possible to buy the xenon headunit and install on 77TSI?
The original headunit with auto leveller so that its road legal, not those illegal ones that blind other motorists.

^^^^^ I think nomadx38 has done this and would be able to advise you
2011 POLO GTI 3dr, Candy White, Audio-Comfort-Xenon PacksMODS: H&R Sport Springs - Bilstein B12s - Whiteline Sway Bar - Milltek Cat Back Exhaust - Sparco Assetto Gara Wheels
well its a 2000ish option at dealer for gti, so i would imagine its around that price.
yes, i do a lot of night driving with limited street light so its getting a bit hard to drive. not the best eye vision either even with correction.
if dealer is charging 2000, id imagine you can do it for 1500ish.
My wife's Golf 77TSI came with halogens. My Tiguan has auto swiveling bixenons. I have to say the difference is quite substantial in country roads.
Is it even possible?
BIG YEP, my car is proof!
How much will it cost?
No more than 1500$ if you install it yourself
Can you install it yourself?
If you have basics in electronics then yep!
Can you install it with auto levelling (including control modules etc)?
short answer - NO
long answer - Only VW can do this (if you can even get a dealer to do it) and the final price will be way over $3000 inc labour. On top of a new wiring loom around the engine bay, a levelling control box needs to be placed behind the glove box, a wire tap into the CANBUS and a new cent elec module to control everything
Will i blind motorists without auto levelling?
short answer - NO
long answer - I have been running the Xenon setup now for over a year and not a single motorist has expressed their concern. do not get me wrong because you do not require auto levelling DOESN'T MEAN THAT THIS CAN BE INCORRECTLY LEVELLED!
They must be set up correctly to start with!!! I cannot stress this enough. You can ask many of the other guys on the forum who I have traveled behind on cruses and not one has been blinded by my setup so it can be done safely, but it has to be spot on correct.
Will it be road legal?
That's a hard one, technically speaking NO, Xenons are illegal without auto levelling, as simple as that. But at the same time a incorrectly adjusted halogen headlight is also illegal so the end point is, if it is adjusted correctly the police will have very little grounds to suspect that it is a retrofit and will assume it is working correctly. Especially with OEM looking products. If you got a 3rd party headlight that looked out of place it may draw more attention to itself.
The good thing about projector headlights (which the xenon bulbs are housed in) is that they have a very strong cut off which is why you can get away with this. I used to have Xenons in my original reflector setup and did like the extra light output but it was at the cost of other drivers safety and what pushed me to get the OEM Xenons. I see many people now with Xenons in their reflector setups (commodore and falcons mostly) and get upset about how blinding they are and why the cops can see them a mile away!
The difference is massive it is easily double the amount of light of halogens and you get the massive benefit a of cooler white light 4300k opposed to 3700 for better colour recognition at night and the Bi-Xenon part of it which give you SUPERIOR high beam!!!
A single xenon bulb does 3200 lumens of light times 2 bulbs in a car is a combined 6400 lumens for BOTH low and high beam (a mechanical shutter controls the cut off the the beam pattern).
The standard halogens in the reflector setup are only rated up to 1100-1500 lumens for both low and high beam. That means you have a max of 3000 lumens for high beam or 3000 lumens for low beam, a far cry from Xenons...
I've argued with nomadx38 about this before and I still don't agree with it being done but he doesn't listen to me regardless
If you want xenons, please do what he did, don't just fit xenon globes into reflector lens headlights. You could also look at some small driving lights mounted above the number plate or even a couple of LED light bars mounted behind the front bumper if you don't want them obvious.
