My Car(s): 2011 6R TSI Comfortline (Pepper Silver),
If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)
The new "new" beetle has xenons that don't require pop up washers or self leveling. They have gotten away with this by using less powerful beams. I'm trying to get. Part numbers for the beetle globes and ballast Units so I can place them inside the OEM polo xenon head light surrounds but as its so new it's been a little hard.
Kinda pointless, havin a less powerful xenon light. May as well just buy blue halogen globes.

I'm not sure you are so negative about it.
If it works and is still street legal, it's awesome news for others in the same boat.
Plus I can see a happy medium between what I get from my halogen and what I can get from the bixenon.
Plus I hate those reflector light housings with blinding blue/white globes even if they may be street legal.

There still more powerful then blue globes.
And it's not just about the power xenos are more focused and have better range even with a little less power.
I've been in one at night and there still really good dispute vw claim there less powerful and still 10 x better then my mates golg with. Hid kit
I'm going to look into this because I've had no communication regarding a change to the ADR's.
You are unequivocally 100% sure they are xenons and not just projectors with halogen bulbs like the last new beetle?

Yep I'm going to have to agree with Gavs on this one. I would say I know a bit about Xenon and HID tech and I know they only make 35 watt bulbs and 35 watt ballasts for OEM use. There are some "aftermarket" ballasts which burn the 35watt bulbs at 55watts for more light output but they are not endorced by any OEM. Never have I heard of a manufacturer make a specific ballast underpowered to pass standards.
It would seem pointless for only 1 manufacturer to make a special bulb / ballast for 1 car which in the end would cost more to develop and manufacture than installing the current system and components supplied in all current cars.
I would highly assume what you saw were halogen globes inside a projector setup, like Gavs said...
A quick Google search reveals there's several websites that state the new Beetle has Bi-Xenon optional now. Maybe the washer are hidden or something. I for one can't see them anywhere on the bummer.

Look for yourselves. This is from the official beetle.com website under the 'Bi-xenon headlight' section.
