So I bit the bullet and put some Audi A1 wipers on. Light drizzle, so far so good no signs of juddering or smearing. I will have to wait until it is hosing down to see how they really are. Look different from the VW wipers, but the part numbers are almost identical, 6R2 955 425/426A for the VW wipers, and 8X2 955 425/426A for the Audi wipers. The packaging had both the VW and Audi logos.

I have tried absolutely everything to try get my driver side wiper to stop shuddering. Its been doing it since I bought the car but everytime I've gone in to get some fixed I forget to mention it and its now nearly been 3 years since I bought the car so I don't think theyll be replacing it...

I have found that after a good wash of the windscreen it doesnt shudder but then after 15-20 wipes, it comes back and its always in the same spot, where the passenger side wiper stops on the drivers side of the windscreen (hope that makes sense) and it may just be some microscopic gunk thats stuck on the windscreen thats making it shudder. This is why I have done everything imaginable to clean that one area to see if it stops but no luck.

Do you guys with the problems recommend buying new blades or trying to tighten to arms?

Have you used a razor blade to scrape the window of any fallout/overspray, then clay bared it, then glass polish. Do this and id be very surprised if it didnt fix the issue.

There must be something on the windscreen causing the wipers to skip/shudder.

I did the wash, clay and polish before using the a1 wipers. I also had a spot that had a permanent layer of dirt that the old blades couldn't ckean.

After that process and the new blades, I am happy with the results. No shuddering, smearing and less noise. More gliding than rubbing on the windscreen. I also used a spray and rinse sealant so that might have helped

Everything except the clay bar. Might give it ago and see if that fixes it otherwise I think I might get them to replace them at my next service.

The wiper woes continue. The ends of the drivers side wiper wobble (best way I can describe it) when it is raining, not on the intermittent setting. It also squeaks at the top of the wipe, as it is about to change direction. Is it the design of the wiper blade being so long, as the passenger side being shorter doesn't wobble.
