Pretty sure thats just a pic of a trendline.
Question is, are the GTI's brakes bigger than the regular Polo?

Assuming they are from a Golf Mk4, the specs for those wheels are 6.0 J x 15 ET38.
The entire 6R Polo range can be fitted with 6.0 J x 15 ET38 (steel) or 6.0 J x 15 ET40 (alloy) wheels for winter usage with 185/60 R15 84T tyres.
Given that the specs match up, I'd rate the chances of those Golf Mk4 wheels fitting as very high indeed, though no doubt you'll find out in due course.
The 6R Polo 1.6 TDI and 1.4 GTI are fitted with 288 mm disc brakes (front).
The rest of the range are fitted with 256 mm disc brakes (front).
Anyone know whether running 195or185/65/15 is a good idea on these wheels?

185/60/15 is the stock size. 185/65 will result in 3% difference in wheel rotation and 1.8cm of wheel diameter
Not sure if I should leave them silver or spray them in a Matte or gloss black, anyone want to photoshop what they would like like?![]()
I wouldn't bother. No one is going to notice in winter while it's snowing.
The Europeans don't bother either - most of them put winter tyres on steels and save their alloys for summer.
The rolling circumference of a 185/60 R15 tyre is 1839 mm. For a 215/40 R17 tyre it's 1842 mm.
175/65 R15 (1857 mm) is still bigger than stock so I'm not sure if snow chains will successfully fit. Might be a bit touch 'n' go.
185/65 R15 (1894 mm) and 195/65 R15 (1937 mm) might fit the car, if pushing it a bit. But as far as snow chains go, there is a good chance they won't successfully fit on such tall tyres on a Polo.
