Where is the battery in the Polo 6R?

So I poked my head around the new Polo GTI at the stealers recently, the sales man didnt know much about it (including what engine was in it?!) anyway under the hood i coudlnt see where the battery was, it had the space in the front left of the engine bay for one but it wasnt there, the car had power so it was confusing.

So where is it out of curiosity?

Go have a look and see. Do you really think a manufacturer would require you to remove a battery to change the spare? Honestly.

thanks for the clarification Phillip. The way Dermot described it as being in the middle of the spare wheel just mis lead me. Indeed it does sound silly to have to remove a battery for the spare wheel.
