Wheels spacers with stock rims (GTI)

So is anyone running wheel spacers on their GTI's?
Im thinking about picking up a set of 20mm spacers to run with my stock rims for a bit more flush as the original offset looks a little poxy imo.

If anyone has some feedback on them or pics of your GTI running them that'd be great.

Right, there is far too much bulltish being written here so to all of you that have had absolutely no informative input in this thread, consider this a warning. I will be deleting all posts in this thread.

As for the moderators allowing the illegal modifications of vehicles:
Your vehicle is your property and you can do to it what you will. This forum is an online community and takes no responsibility for what people do to their property on the advice of another user or off their own bat. You make your car illegal and dangerous to road users, that is not our responsibility. Generally we will inform people and leave it to their judgement. Case in point, you don't see people jumping up and down about tdi owners blocking or disabling their EGR systems do you, yet this is an illegal modification. What about putting something on a roof rack that has a leading edge radius of less than 2mm? What about carrying a bottle of BBQ gas in the boot of your car without a load placard on the vehicle?

I agree with you on this one Gavs

So in summary - they're illegal, but if you want to run them please pic a reputable hub centric adapter/spacer but it will be your risk to do so.

    wow!

OK guys thanks for all the input on legalities and what not, its appreciated.
Now that's out the way can we get back on topic and get some pics up of Polo GTI's running wheel spacers with the stock wheels?

I actually have a set of aftermarket wheels with offsets i like but i also like the stocky look just the way they sit so far in the guards annoys me.

So what about the posts advising to the detrimental effects of spacers and possible dangers? I thought they were relevant.

Official Vehicle Standard Information - Roadworthiness Requirements

    CONTENTS

    Roadworthiness Requirements

    Preface

    Introduction

    Section A Wheels and Tyres

    Section B Steering and Suspension

    ROADWORTHINESS REQUIREMENTS

In Victoria a Certificate of Roadworthiness is generally required when a vehicle is sold or if it is to be re-registered. In some cases a Certificate of Roadworthiness is also required to clear a Vehicle Defect Notice.

    Track Width

In the case of passenger cars and light goods vehicles, the track measured to the centre of the tyre treads must not exceed the original specification by more than that specified for that type of suspension in VSI 8. However, for vehicles fitted with diagonally split braking systems, there must be no change in front or rear track from the original specification. Hub/rim spacers are unacceptable unless specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
