    Whats it worth?

Its a sad day as it looks like I may be selling my Polo GTI. Iv bought a new house thats needs work and a inside toilet is much needed, hence the required reno money. Iv recently moved work places and now dont drive to work, I ride my pushbike so the Polo does about 50km a week. Im going to get something around 10k and pocket some cash.

The car is a June 2011 Mod with almost 9,000km. Its perfect condition inside and out. Anyone got an idea of what its worth? Im thinking around 30,000. It is a Candy white with comfort pack. Are there still extended wait times on these?

Shoot me a PM if your interested in buying it.

Sad to hear this, considering the wait and the amount of K's should get 30k private sale...maybe 29k.

Im not being smart but its a Polo not a Golf.
You should advertise about 27990 and take as low as 24k.

The new price (now with comfort, bluetooth & audio) is 28-29k depending on doors. When you buy a new car the outlay is higher, but this is because of dealer delivery & stamp duty. One of those is a service fee, the other is a tax. Trying to recoup the cost of a dealer delivery is the equivalent of adding on the price of every service you've had done. With stamp duty, the new buyer will have to pay it anyway. So, if you're selling for 30k, the new owner will have to shell out nearly 31.5 which is around what I've got a new one on order for.

Any buyer would be paying new car price for something which has some mileage on it, a substantial chunk of the warranty period gone, that they're unable to insure as a new car (replacement in first 2 years, etc) and that they will need to organise rego for soon. There's certainly a few private sales online with the price set at, or above, new value. The long wait time on a new order is skewing the market somewhat. That being said, I've noticed a lot of the private sales have been sitting there for months & months. Either the sellers aren't removing the ads, or people are just not willing to pay that much for a second hand vehicle that is going to suffer massive depreciation as the waiting list gets shorter.

If you can advertise it & get 29-30k, go for it. But, if it was any other car in the same price bracket you'd probably have to sell it for around 25k.

There is no way im selling it for 24k. I paid $33k and waited 6 months in the process. I'll see how I go, if i cant sell it for close to what im after, il keep it.

lol, although mine was a trade, I paid $30, 100 (i think it was 100 anyway), for a 66TDi DSG with sport pack and stamp duty etc included and i sold after 6 months and I got $19k for the trade. Private sale I could probably have gotten around $22k. However it had only done 1, 600kms. So I would advertise for around $28k and let it got for $25-26k. Always remember that cars depreciate the most in the first year.

Yes I paid the 3k in dealer delivery etc, but everyone pays that, so effectively a new one will be around 32 - 33k with most likely a long wait. The wait isnt as easy as it sounds, if i could have got one only 7 months old for 4-5k less i would have jumped at it.
