Quick Google shows its related to the actuator shaft for the turbo.

Apparently reports of the actuator shaft rattling.

Think they replaced a washer or something.

Just google the recall code for more info.

Recall 24V9: fit a 2mm spacer on the turbo actuator arm to stop it rattling.

Not to stop it rattling only. Also includes an engine update. Some vehicles had the arm go out of range and throw the car into limp mode.

Indeed.... This happened to my car, most disconcerting on the freewway @ 100kph , luckily I literally rolled to barloworld VW to have it fixed.. first and last time it will grace that dealer but that's a different story

The mode should be labelled 'barely limp home' as i reckon my push bike could give it a run for its money when its in that mode, and it would be interesting should there be any hills involved.

If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)

Is the preformance of the car affected after the recall?

Not at all. Just stops the rattle some people have reported and more importantly stops the possibilty of the sensor from going out of range.

It happened to me. I was at the VicMarket, about 25 minutes into my journey. The car stalled at the traffic lights. When I switched the ignition back on, there was no power. Peak hour traffic, car in limp mode, impatient drivers behind me honking me like crazy. Managed to pull over and the car was fine afterwards.

A week later, same thing happened again at exactly the same set of traffic lights. The update has fixed the problem.
