Things that you will be ashamed of.... Kidding! save your bickies and get to know the car first. Wait 12 months too because if you're going to be having warranty issues, they're more likely to rear their head within the first 18 months or so of ownership. Then, once you know the car and your happy its working well, go for the fun factor

Now that I'm heading back to the UK at the end of the year, I'm looking at a new Audi S3 sportback...

It seems to be all round better than the previous incarnation, with 221KW, AWD and with the current exchange rates about $46,000... Tasty

The only thing is that the options list is a lot bigger in the UK, so there will have to be decisions made on that score...

Sounds good! Ive only removed the resonator, got an air filter and purchased a rear sway bar for the time being.. Also got a price on a tune, but if thats the case ill hold off on the tune.

What's with Renault (well, Nissan actually) engines whining so much?
Our Megane makes exactly the same whine!

And what's with the clunking/grinding/knocking sound just before it takes off?

That's the engine / exhaust when launch control is engaged.

I got an email earlier in the year that the EDC / CVT is a six speed wet clutch

If it's the same gearbox as the Megane dCi (diesel) then it's dry clutch.

How can a CVT be a six speed wet clutch? They have no gears...
