I sold my Golf GTI for a Range Rover. Old man in me said it was more sensible to have a diesel SUV as oppose to a fast hatchback.

Yes this is frustrating. They got the Golf R for example for between $30-35k (depending on whether they got a base model or fully loaded - thats how the Yanks refer to the specs) where we pay between $55k-70k depending on options. Mind you, the Yanks missed out on some of the options we got here, but thats still a huge price difference.

Nice choice on the Evoque - they are a stylish machine. And apparently quite good off road if you ever decided to try it. Did i read your signature correctly that they are a 9 speed gearbox? Far out.

Yeah mate - the MY14 specs all use 9 spd boxes. First in the world. On the highway at 100km/h, it only gets to gear 8 so i assume 9 is some very tall overdrive gear. I do miss the GTI though - I still think there is not a better drivers car out there under 100k. But I am an old man and diesel SUV it had to be!

Steel Grey, 18 or 19 black pack (I wanna see how the 18s look in person), and tech pack. I want as many features that the golf cant get as possible .

Getting tech pack means it can't be built until MY15 production starts, but I think thats best future wise since I'm sure there'll be some small updates under the hood and possibly a new flat bottom steering wheel.

Ha, ha! Yes, both well beyond my reach, either here or there.

But BMW's would be within reach, if I lived in the USA. Not here, though.

On another note, I spotted a few Tesla sedans while in the USA recently. Very nice looking car. Good performance on paper, too. No more expensive than what we pay for a Merc A45 AMG...

I looked at their Australian website, and I can reserve one for $5000, but they won't say what you will ultimately owe! Money better be no object for you, if you decide to go down that exclusive route! (They make an SUV, too.)
