What would you do to your Polo if you had $2000?

    Hey all,

So I've been putting aside money for flights to England but it looks increasingly unlikely that i'll be going. Mostly because the GF cant afford to go.

SO... I've got a lazy $2k sitting in my account that could go to a worthy car cause.

Keeping in mind my 2012 GTI is stock, and I still owe over half the value of the car... Should I put the $2k on repaying the car, or do something to it? (Mods, wheels, kit etc?)

    Your thoughts to begin.... Now.

I did the coilovers first just because I like my cars to sit a little lower but the best mods i've done so far would be the Tune/CAI. It has given the gti that extra punch I felt it lacked from the factory so that would be my choice in your position.

    Lol fixed!

If I get a tune I need to upgrade the DSG though, right?

    ATM I'm leaning towards wheels

How comfortable are you doing mods to the engine now vs. once it nears or is outside warranty? (particularly if there is finance over the vehicle).

Sensible is to keep crunching the loan - the cash flow from that will quickly cover mods once the debt is gone, plus you'll be that much closer to a time where warranty issues are irrelevant anyway.

Otherwise from everything I've seen the tune/CAI is the way to go for power, or play with the suspension if you're happy with how it goes and want to improve the handling/lower look.

Re-route the holiday to thailand. And tell your gf to come and you will pay for half of her new operation.

Then motor boat to your lips are swollen. And thank me later.

Pay it off first. Only if you're planning on keeping the car for more than a few years go for the mods instead, though I* would still pay it off first.

    * Then again, I own mine outright, and have money spare, but I'm still reluctant to spend more money on it.
