I'll let you know on the fuel consumption once I fit my APR.
Maybe contact PWR and see if they can knock something up for you
My next addition for the polo is a new intercooler. I have only found two. that being from APR and the forge.
Forge Motorsport | Alloy Fabrication
APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW and Porsche Vehicles.
The APR version is pretty straight forward. Dyno graphs show results and all the details are laid out and it looks the goods but at near on $1700 is pretty expensive ( but with all things you pay for what you get)
The forge version looks nothing flash and there's not much detail in the description I could find. Dyno graph is in Bhp and no mention how its run. It has a increase of 10+ hp compared to APR,s 9-11kw. But it's half the price £399 plus £180 postage.
Comes to around $850 landed.
Thoughts? Anyone got a forge front mount? I have read some reviews from other vw versions running forge intercooler a and it seems mixed depending on car.
For those with the APR cooler I'd really like to know how it affects fuel consumption in the heat. On my drive to work early morning with a clean run with the temp at 10-15 degrees I get 5.5l per 100km. The same clean run home at over 25 degrees yields over 8L per 100 km.

Holy hell the stock intercooler is TINY on these Polo's.
Honestly, both will do the job just fine - it depends on your budget and how much you are willing to spend. In regards to fuel consumption i havent noticed any difference at all from my stock intercooler to my aftermarket one.
$1700 is massive amount for an Intercooler. Is there really only two options to choose from for the 6R?
Lucas, they look smaller than the bloody Twintercoolers.

The first one won't send to aus.
HG Is not direct fit. Needs some cutting around the pipes and half of it is blocked behind the cross bar. Seems way to big for the little polo. The price for shipping the HG unit is outrages. I was told €380. The cooler is only €100 more.
But thanks.

If you speak to the uk guys, HP are "stupid" with their stepped core design but it's no surprise that's what they say when APR UK are developing their own intercooler. As I pointed out to them, the proof is in the dyno graphs and real world performance in Australian conditions. A few of the local 9n Polo Gti owners have swapped out their forge intercoolers for Seat Sport ones instead, speaks volumes to me. The twintercooler option seems interesting to me because I logged temps with the factory cooler and they were horrendous after a repeatable 30km, 100kph run. On an 18 degree day I saw temps up around the 40's. Forge then take that air, send it around a corner into another cooler (which blocks off more radiator space) with no evidence in relation to pressure drop/vs flow etc.
Look, it's up to you but fuel economy gains aren't going to offset the purchase price. It's going to give you better heat dissipation after heat soak that's after 5 mind idling...
That's after 1 km at 60 kph.
Yes my fuel economy dropped but it was done in conjunction with the ecu tune.
Stage 2+ Intercooler Carbon Intake Downpipe Swaybar DV+ Remsa.
So which one do you have gavs or are you still running stock (and what tune). I'm going to replace it for the heat dissipation and other gains anyway just wanted to see what fuel gains where out there as well (at least I can recoup some fuel funds to appease the treasurer). Tune will follow if not before as soon as the local guy is free. I didn't find the twintercooler.
I had a similar design in my liberty. The cross bar was right through the guts of the front inlet so it was basically two coolers. One above. One below and it just flowed through the bottom one and up to the top. Had massive gains over stock but that's not hard going from a top mount. I had upgraded the top mount first with good gains but the the front mount was another leap. And compared to my mates with a blitz one piece front mount and the same moods my lag was less and power up. But different cars react differently. Especially when the turbo was three times the size of the polos.
