I had my wife bake a number 10 cake to take into the dealership. As you can imagine the Service Manager wasn't particularly impressed.
Would love to have seen the service managers face when you presented the "celebratory" cake!! What a classic.

That's not a great track record for a new car.....hope things get better or I would be genuinely considering moving it on. I assume your engine was replaced due to oil consumption issues (judging by how many consumption tests you have done) rather than it going bang (which is another common failure with these twin-charger motors).

What are the chances they go bang because they seize up from people not checking the oil and it compleatly running out. I know your thinking well the oil light would come on but they had failty sensors as well didn't they? Would just be a very bad set of circumstances...

Well my new engine has been faultless. No oil used in 4,000km.

In theory yes it could happen - but the owner would have to be completely careless to ignore the "check oil" messages on their dash for months on end for that to happen. The more real issue is holes in pistons and subsequent loss in compression due to running too lean and hot.

Good to hear - hope it stays that way.

Can you give some more specifics ie wheel and tyre details and where you purchased them?
Thank you. Car is sitting on AP coils, rear at lowest setting and front 2 cm thread left. Might have to raise the front a hair. Got the set second hand, after hunting it down for months literally, it was always just out of reach for me

Tnanks, They are reps, real ones are pushing €2k+ over here. Front and rear are both ET35, if ET is proven too high I can always use 5mm spacers to make them fit

Finally got my seat squeak fixed. Took it to the dealer and it took them 1 and a half days to fix it...god knows why. Whilst it was there also got first year/15,000 service. I noticed that instead of using Castrol they put Shell Helix Ultra Extra. Will be keeping an eye out for consumption if there is any. Mine stopped consuming massive amounts of oil a few months before first service and i hope it stays that way.

Meanwhile, whilst i was searching the internet for goodies, I found on gumtree a Forge motorsport intake for $600. Not sure how much they usually are but I thought i'd post and let everyone/anyone who is interested in a cheaper alternative CAI.

A word of caution, Bodykits kingdom was the exact same company that said they had to release the R20 bar that I had enquired about (which was subsequently destroyed by customs)...so caviet emptor.

Finished my custom 2.25" down pipe on the TSI today. It's 2.25" back to the crossmember then tapers back in to the stock exhaust using a custom long reducer that has a very gradual taper over about 250mm. The tone of the exhaust is the same but maybe 10% louder all the way through the RPM. Much more subtle than a straight-through muffler. Can't help but to want a bit more noise but the wife says no! Unfortunately, I won't be doing a dyno run until after getting a DNA tune which will be after I bring it in for the DSG recall which will be goodness knows when
