Not sure what I'm doing with it yet, one of my MX5 race cars is for sale, if that doesn't get sold then the Polo might have to go.

Can you help with the part numbers please??

The ones I just ordered are not close at all... I just want to check them as I can not see them fitting. Fronts have a long extension that must go through the inner guard and the rears are the wrong curvature around the rear bumper.

Could re-shape but numbers would help as there are LONG and SHORT types available.

    Cheers

I only got the fronts fitted over the weekend as the rears need modifying, hopefully this weekend though.

The rears fall foul of the diffuser on the GTI so a bit needs to be cut on the flap to have it sit flush.

    6R0075116 front
    6R0075106 rear

These are the short. The fronts fit perfectly, that long extension just needs to be put in properly which can be tricky to line up the first time. Plus it then has a clamp you are meant to put on it, but for the life of me we couldn't get it to actually grip the smooth plastic and it just kept slipping off.

The rear needs modifying slightly. Originally from lining them up we figured we needed to take a good inch out, suffice to say once we put it on we actually didn't and it was only 10mm if that. So I have one neat fitment and one that's butchered.

One thing is to have them fit you have to use the bottom screw that you put the tiny hole in under the bumper for. Without that the guard doesn't line up with the curve of the bumper.

the adventures of the last few days for me... (photo heavy)

so a few days ago, on Wednesday, i decided to change up my polo a little. this started with the purchase of some blaze blue plasti-dip with the intent of putting a blue ring around my white aristos. after masking/taping and covering with newspaper i went at it... but i just want happy with the look/finish. So i went and, for laugh, sprayed the whole wheel in blaze blue. You know, just to see what it looked like... and here it is

[not shiny irl, and not 100% perfect coverage (lightly speckled)]

i liked it... and then i thought of MarcusAurelius, and his multi-coloured wheels. so i posted a photo on instagram and asked what other colours i should look at. one said all blue, Lemonskin suggested red and green and Pod (9n3, ppods_ on ig) suggested that blue and orange would look awesome against the white. so with these thoughts in mind, i went back to autobahn to do some more shopping. returned home with 1 can each of red, blaze green, yellow and black. would have gotten blaze orange, but they didn't have any (will get some to replace the yellow when its in stock). So i got started on the other wheels...

    [starting blaze green]

    [drop-sheet setup]

[blaze red... gave me an idea, more to follow]

[more coats, starting yellow, interior trim in background]

so that was the wheels. the idea that came form the red was for the interior trim pieces around the radio/climate control/air vents. it was basically a blood splatter pattern, which i think looks pretty cool... and sort of fits the dubkorps theme as a "medic" (which may have to be in the next phase of visual mods me thinks ).

so here's how that idea ended up

    [radio and climate control trims]

the next step was getting the air vents out to get them painted up. with this job i had some help from Nomadx38, who so kindly emailed me the required repair manuals and led me to this at 10pm last night

    [side air vent trims]

and now to this morning... removal of the radio and alot of other trim bits to get at the center vents, which resulted in the polo looking like this

    [bits everywhere!!!]

so painting of the vents happened, with drying helped out by our only source of heating (a nice cozy wood fire). Trims were replace and all screws back to where they should be. the dash ended up as good as i had hoped

    [finished interior]

so with the car back together, i went and got the last piece if the puzzle put together (tyre on blue wheel) and changed the wheels on the car to the newly painted aristos to make a nice little clown car

    [blue and yellow]

    [red and green]

and thus concludes what i have done to my polo in the last few days. future plans are to change the yellow wheel to blaze orange and add more "blood splatter" details to the car (was thinking wing mirrors, fog surrounds, fuel filler lid and maybe some on bonnet and spoiler but also open to suggestions)

    thank you for your time.
