    Thanks all.

As you say, it's more an inconvenience and everyone is safe so it's not the end of the world but finding a decent smash repairer who does insurance jobs and who isn't snowed under with work is a struggle.

Anyone know anyone decent around Artarmon in Sydney? I'd go with Jack Hillermans if I could but they shy away from any insurance jobs in my experience.

Great way to start the week.
Bugger. Sorry to hear about this. Hope it's a quick repair and that you're back on the road soon.

Booking the GTI in for Friday @ tint-a-car for some octane tint. I couldn't believe the $$ quoted at the dealer for tinting.

I'll be interested to hear how you go. I have read reports that with tint on the rear window and with the auto-dimming rear view mirror, when it dims at night you literally can't see out the back window.

Jury is still out for me as to whether or not to get tinting.

Just turn off the auto-dimming... there is a button on the mirror.

In my R, it unfortunately came with the factory dark tint. I put Solargard HP Quantum 52 on that, so I'm down to say 22% VLT on the rear window. I leave the auto-dimming off permanently, and only press it if some douche in a 4WD behind me has their high beams on or something like that.

I know what you mean and for those with the comfort pack (dimming mirrors) this would be a concern but for me it doesn't really pose a problem >> touch wood...as I don't have the comfort pack.

I don't plan on having to look out the back of mine because everyone will be in the distance anyway

G'day mate, Concours in Hotham parade/avenue is great, used them and they get only genuine VW parts
