Thanks Rubbadub. That's a nice shot. Your RS is looking very sleek and shiny.

    Swissvax if you want wax.

You could layer the wax over the sealant...

It really depends what look you want eg: wet & greasy, bright, etc.
Cheers brad. I guess I'm after a wet and shiny look. I've read some waxes may discolour the white so I'll stick with sealants. Also, sealants seem to have better life span. Was considering Nanolex but I was told it'd be wasted on the white colour.

And best of all, no bulb out error - on mine anyway.
Good price. Might have to order a set as well.

Who told you that about Nanolex?

Yes, sealants last longer than wax but you can layer them.

I guess some waxes may put a slightly different shading on white but they would be waxes designed for other colours.

My mate with the Swixxvax had a white 323 & now a white M135. He's extremely fussy & wouldn't use a product if it discoloured the vehicle.

Suggest you ask at Detail Paradise or Detailing World as somebody is feeding you a line.

One of the guys that works as a mechanic at VW who is in the aftermarket / tuning community (so he isn't just a VW tech saying everything is the drivers fault) said that these engines are "apparently" fragile and shouldn't be tuned as you can get a con rod poking out the cylinder wall. I don't know how true this is but I hope it's not, I would love to get some more oomph out of the 1.2...

And with the tweeking, I thought they have the modified file on hand. Or are you doing a custom tune?
ok, so part 2 complete - a simple process of uploading a file from a laptop to the car which took me no more than 10 mins.

Haven't had a chance to drive much more than around the block yet so will report back over the weekend on how it performs.

I noted at the time that the file had my car's engine and VIN numbers - I'm assuming this the file is a tweaked version of the original rather than an off the shelf tune (is the latter even possible?).

There are a number of tunes available (DNA, ABT, Viezu etc) which are all rated around 95-100kw. These have been around a few years now, and given how many cars these engines are found in (wv, seat, skoda), the fact that i haven't heard of one grenading is promising.

They have to insert cetain identifying code from the original file into the new file.

Did you do any benchmark tests like 0-100 to compare with post tuning? Percentagewise its massive, but I'd like to know what difference the extra 20+ kw makes to real life performance.

While not a Polo, I replaced this chewed up mess today. It's good to have 18psi again instead of limp mode and 5psi lol

I got my GTI back after the engine rebuild/replacement.

It was so good to drive after having a 77tsi for a week. The 77tsi sport pack was a lovely car, but nothing on the gti.

    • clay-barred (god that took a long time)

    • Lastly then two layers of Duragloss 111 sealant (one the night before and one the next morning)

I think it was worth it

Now that I've finally finished my Duragloss, any recommendations for sealants that makes white pop even more? I understand the paint will never going to look at deep and shiny as black but happy to try something new. In saying that, the Duragloss is awesome and great value for money.

I felt inspired from you doing it so I did that today 4h+

For claying I used Mothers Clay Bar Kit
    Polish was Nu Finish
and wax was Mothers Pure Brazilian Carnauba Wax
