Spent a good 12 hours over the weekend giving the car its annual detail.

    • Washed using APC to get rid of the old sealant
    • de-ironised with Wolf's Chemicals deironiser to get rid of iron contaminants from paint and wheels
    • clay-barred (god that took a long time)
    • Lastly then two layers of Duragloss 111 sealant (one the night before and one the next morning)

I think it was worth it

Now that I've finally finished my Duragloss, any recommendations for sealants that makes white pop even more? I understand the paint will never going to look at deep and shiny as black but happy to try something new. In saying that, the Duragloss is awesome and great value for money.

Looks good. I find Collinite 476 works well, especially for durability, though I can't compare its finish to the Duragloss as I haven't tried the latter. I suspect your technique and approach do at least half of the work, the remainder being down to the product, of course.

Any chance of linking me or send me a DM with a link to where you bought the license plate lights?

Completed part 1 of DNA tune last night - plugged in the laptop, downloaded my stock tune and sent it to DNA. DNA will tweak it and send back the modified tune which I will upload tonight

Wolfgang gets some good reviews at my home forum if you only want sealant.

    Swissvax if you want wax.

You could layer the wax over the sealant...

It really depends what look you want eg: wet & greasy, bright, etc.

I picked mine up from "Tuning Fanatics" eBay shop for about $35~ (Pair). The OEM are bright, but not over the top bright which is great. Also light patern is how it should be (unlike putting a led globe in the original t10 holder).

And best of all, no bulb out error - on mine anyway.

Let me know how it goes, I'm hopefully getting it later in the year but I need to make sure its worth it and safe.

One of the guys that works as a mechanic at VW who is in the aftermarket / tuning community (so he isn't just a VW tech saying everything is the drivers fault) said that these engines are "apparently" fragile and shouldn't be tuned as you can get a con rod poking out the cylinder wall. I don't know how true this is but I hope it's not, I would love to get some more oomph out of the 1.2...

And with the tweeking, I thought they have the modified file on hand. Or are you doing a custom tune?
