I visited Guy and James at Harding Performance for a stage 1 tune on my GTI. Holy smoke!! It's hard to put into words exactly what the tune does, but here goes. It seems to give you a lot more top end grunt. It also has a noticeable "build-up" of boost as you climb in revs, rather than just a constant wall of power. It would be unfair to call this turbo lag, because it isn't, just what seems like a redistribution of power. It does come at the cost of a bit of unhappiness from the DSG and, obviously, increased fuel consumption, but on the whole I'm very impressed. I'm not saying that the stock GTI was lacking in oomph, but this upgrade really does give it the slight air of insanity that this car deserves. I also snagged one of the only remaining new APR badges. The idea is that you add a "stripe" for every stage modification, which I think is bloody awesome.
As I said to my mate, "No Polo should have the right to be this fast. It just shouldn't be allowed to happen." Fortunately, thanks to Guy and his crew, not only is it possible, but very achievable. In the immortal words of Ferris Bueller: "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."
humm tasty.. ! very nice looking badge there oh yeah and the tune..
Idk as i was told by VW that the tint is unique only to Volkswagen group and Audi some sort of "Titanium tint" and was told "oh you could get aftermarket tinting but it won't be as superior and there is no one who has the same film as we do for the polo"
Seriously they aren't helpful and make it so obvious to pressure me in purchasing VW tinting...what two sheets of film + install for $390 yeah ok....
thinking it may be cheaper to strip the entire cars tint and redo it :/ a bit drastic but it's becoming a chore for me now.
POLO 77TSI DSG 5D - MY11 - REFLEX SILVER - COMFORT PACK
Engine - K&N Air Filter (e-2997)
AV - Rockford Fosgate T1652-S , T1652 and P3L-S12 Sub. Alpine MRP-F600 and Alpine MRP-M500, Dynamat
Planned - lots, but the "financial manager" says NO
Guys, you cannot strip the factory VW tint. It is tinted glazing, not a film applied to clear glass. The only way to get rid of the factory tint would be to replace the glass entirely...
Beyond that, the dealers do not have ANY proprietary tint film products... almost all of them "outsource" the dealer tint jobs to companies such as Tint-A-Car etc.
There's entire thread on this in the MK6 Golf forum called http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...ion-32781.html
There are plenty of tints which come "close enough" to match. Tonally you can even get exact if you don't mind going "darker than legal" on all windows, or keeping the front windows legal and having the rear side and rear window slightly darker.
Corey your a saint mate, just read TG.20Ts post and Rob is only a 1 min drive from my place, seems like he did an awesome job on his Golf R looks sexy as.
Will call him tomorrow, thanks for the thread link!
No problems. Rob did my car as well (there's pictures in there somewhere). He's an awesome guy.
