$700 installed sounds a little excessive....but then again I don't know if you're including wheel alignment in that price.
$260 AUD delivered from Orange tuning and $250 installation is what I paid.
    Wheel alignment was included yes.

Can you post up some pics of your car?

Polo doesn't need a wheel alignment when changing springs or struts, you can't adjust the camber on these cars either so sorry mate, I think you got ripped off Unless your toe was super out of course......

The springs only got installed today but I will go take some photos and post them asap. Just been too busy at work to scratch myself.

That's right but if you change your wheels and springs like i have then you do need an alignment after the springs settle.

After being quoted $250 for the spring installation I only got charged $200 in the end.

Sorry dude, you don't because you physically can't perform any alignment other than toe in / out on the front wheels. This is from the service manuals:

    Note
♦ Camber correction is necessary only after body repairs. Camber
cannot be adjusted. However, it can be mediated by
    shifting the subframe!
♦ Move subframe only to left or right, but never in or opposite to
    direction of normal travel!
    – Remove noise insulation.
    – Loosen bolts -1- to -4- for securing subframe to body.
The camber adjustment range is limited by the tolerances of the
holes in the subframe. If the specified value is not reached by
shifting the subframe, this and the body must be inspected
    ⇒ page 1 .
    – Now camber may be adjusted to specification by moving subframe.
    – Tighten new bolts for subframe to body to specified torque plus
    extra turn angle.
After shifting the subframe/steering box, clearance between the
steering column universal joint and the cutout in the bulkhead
    must be checked.
    – Fold floor covering back slightly.
There must be a clearance of 5 mm all round between universal
joint -1- and cutout in bulkhead -2-.
    Specified torques
    Component Specified torque
    Subframe to body
    ♦ Use new bolts.
    70 Nm + 90°
    5.8 Check rear axle camber
    Camber cannot be adjusted.
If a value lies outside the tolerances, the vehicle's transverse inclination
must be checked and, if necessary, compensated for
    ⇒ page 126 .
If the measured values lie outside the permitted tolerances, the
axle body must be checked for damage and if necessary renewed.
    5.9 Check rear axle toe
    Toe cannot be adjusted
    .

In no way am I suggesting gavs information is incorrect, hell its in the manual but Mike...I've been informed by 3 different workshops including Trutrack that I need to get a general wheel alignment after the springs settle for a couple of weeks.

FWIW...my car feels damn good with the lighter wheels and h&r springs installed.
