We did but cold weather means dense air which means good for forced induction engines (according to TopGear anyway).
How the hell did you manage that time in the weather though? I can't fathom it.

Hey guys, have had my polo for a while now but I thought I would put some photos up anyway.
The intake photo was taken before I mounted it properly. Its currently got an APR tune, cat back exhaust and the darkest window tint before being illegal.

Well I had to leave the car with the dealership for 24 hours and the 'senior technician' who apparently knew how to replicate the issue road tested it twice and said that he was "able to replicate a slight clutch shudder upon acceleration". He said the only way to resolve it was to replace both clutches. I booked the car in for mid September so hopefully after then I'll be able to drive my car for longer than 45mins without the clutch slipping every time I accelerate. Clutches should last longer than 12,000kms especially considering I always 'go easy' on the DSG.

Sometimes going easy on the DSG is just as bad as going hard. Again it goes back to the piss poor programming of the gearbox and its CONSTANT need to shift to a higher gear even when its under 1500rpm. Whether you push it hard or soft it will slip first until you hit about 5km where it will slip second until its fully engaged at about 20km/h. Normally this wouldn't matter to much but with the first batch of clutches the compound would delaminate when it became hot (which the constant slipping provokes) and would leave hotspots creating the shuddering. The fact is the first design of clutches have problems and everybody will have a problem sooner or later. I had mine start to slightly shidder at 22,000km, my bro is having a fair bit of slipping (not shuddering) at 50,000km and I test drove a jetta with 4000km on the clock and that had serious shuddering at low revs.

It's all a matter of time. Touch wood the revised clutches (made in 2012) that were put in have so far kept their consistently and I have done 30,000km with them without any major problems (for some reason it slips going into and out of 5th only - mechatronics I think)

I don't know why the shift points are so low and why it never shifts back into first until you stop completely. My dsg has been fine so far but even just the ability to have the D program shift back into first when driving in traffic would be worth a dsg tune to me. When I drive in manual I tend to be in a gear one lower than where D would be all the time, worse for fuel economy I guess but better for drivability.

Thanks heaps for the explanation, Nomad! The problem makes much more sense now!

My Polo is a January 2012 build and the clutches are current slipping in low gears (like you described) when the DSG heats up or after about 45mins of driving. Would my car currently have the bad batch of clutches? The clutches are going to be replaced next month so they should definitely be the revised ones, right?

    Thanks in advance, Mate!

Contrary to what nomadx38 has said, there has not been a revision to the clutch compound since 2011, possibly as early as 2010. The latest clutch pack revision is still revision 'C' which was introduced early 2011. I fell for this when told by the one service tech I trusted, until I looked at the online parts system for myself. Unless its been revised to revision 'D' in the last 3-4months...

Yes Gavs is correct there was only one revision from before 2012 (with a "C" destination) and from 2012 it says its a "A" destination for petrol models. This is from the official TPI. Not sure if they are the exact same clutch but there are in total 4 clutches. A, B, C and one without a destination.
