Question What does the current Polo (GTI) provide for mounting number plates ?

Have bought a new GTI, to be delivered at the end of the month.

I've looked through the forum - and picked up heaps of info on all sorts of stuff, as the Polo is a little different to my old Mk5 Golf GTI and our current Skoda Superb - and can't really find an exact answer.

What does the current Polo, as delivered, provide for mounting number plates ?

Are there threaded screw mounts in the bumpers or is it a case of double sided-tape or self-tapping screws ?

And yes have ordered some custom mounting brackets from Lakin - just curious...

    Thanks!

You get a plastic bumper to drill and screw into.

Yeah that's right, there are no factory holes on the Polo at all, it's just what is drilled at the dealership... or just use 3m tape.

I can't recommend Lakin plate covers and the company enough, good move.

    Thanks for the replies !

That's what I figured based on the pics I'd seen and what I remember of the car at the dealership.

Actually the custom brackets/covers and premium Euro plates arrived on Friday - and we have informed the dealership not to drill any holes - we'll get them to use tape and then we'll install everything properly once we pick it up...

It is slightly curved in two directions too... althought the metal plates do sit quite well when screwed into it.

I took sometime to install my own but a sticker would look better but I never knew they were available.
