Yes they do allow for more stress in the clutches and everything in general but keep it in mind that you could chew through clutches more quickly and if you have a DSG clutch that's $2500 a hit to replace.

But then again it depends when and how it delivers 300 nm of torque, if its higher up in the rev range you should be fine as the clutch is fully engaged anyway.
I think you can get a DSG tune that allows 350NM from memory? Ask TorqueSteer, He's getting it.

I have an independent report from a workshop that sells a competitors tune and they too agree that there is no way a tune caused my issue. I am still trying to chase answers but it's amazing that staff at VGA just always seem to be in perpetual meetings....
    Somewhat reassuring! Thanks Gav.
I mean besides the DSG box and its apparent issues, at least it wasn't the tune that created a problem for you.

Also - the article in your sig is pretty interesting....

Mechatronics are a complex little device, but directly don't fail (as I mentioned) by increasing power and torque. The boxes seem pretty strong. If you want to see box failures, look at 9N polo GTI's - the ring gears come off the differential & blow a hole out of the case, seen at least a dozen do this.

Yet to see anything trying to exit out of a 6R Polo case yet (and we give ours a hard time).

When I was considering a golf wagon purchase I costed a towbar. The bar and the wiring kit are sold seperately (and cost twice as much as they should). Since I only really need it for a bike rack I mentioned that I might just get the bar and if I want to tow anything I could wire it myself. The salesman told me that the wiring must plug into the factory plug up front. If I spliced into the tail light wiring I would void warranty on the entire electrical system

This is true due to the complex BCM and CANBUS system in the car.

Guy repeats my info too, aside from the electronic gremlins, the actual mechanicals of the box are phenomenally strong.
