Waiting on delivery of car, keen to modify

Hey guys I'm picking up my new MY16 Polo DSG 81TSI in 8 days and I want to change the bulbs. I've noticed everyone uses halogens instead of HIDs. Is there a reason for this?
I'd also like to change the bottom bumper DRLs what size are these? Any list of the bulb sizes so I can pre purchase the bulbs and put them on soon as I get them.
I'm also interested in the crackle on upshifts how can this be achieved I've seen that there middle resonator had to be removed is this correct?

This is because putting HID bulbs into reflector housings which are designed for halogen bulbs ALWAYS causes excessive glare to oncoming traffic as well as reduced useful light output for you, the driver.
HID bulbs are designed for projector headlight housings which focus the beam in a certain way and have light cut-offs in strategic areas to reduce or eliminate glare to oncoming drivers as well as increase the beam length which improves visibility. Putting these bulbs into reflector housings (which your Polo has ex-factory) just produces a scattered beam which reduces visibility for you and makes oncoming drivers angry.
    Please just use halogen bulbs!

Will do look like I'll be getting the Philips ultra vision or diamond vision ones.
