In answer to your question, I doubt it very much! Whilst I have never owned a Suzuki, we have several on fleet as rental cars. Trust me, they are not on the same, page quality wise, as the Polo.
BTW you need a new keyboard
Hi Guys,
bare with me here, I know it's a Vdub site so pls avoid the initial urge to tell me to buzz off once you read this.
I will begin first by saying that I woke up on Saturday morning with a single thought, buying a Polo Tsi man. My 95 ford exploded a week ago and the repairs were 2 x times it's trade value so the new car got pushed closer.
My niaivity meant that I thought I would walk in and just buy one, WRONG!! 2 dealers and tha best I could do is delivery in April. Out if frustration I ended up at a Suzuki showroom and under 35 minutes later I had purchased a 2011 GL Swift Man.
The reason was simple, it drove as close to the Polo as any car I could find and some if it's plastics (not all of course) reminded me of the Polo and the Golf IV we currently own. The car was very impressive and very different to the ****e box I was expecting.
They had one in stock which was a huge factor and it was obviously cheaper than the Polo (some $5,000). It made me think that VW are having more than just s financial share in the product? Does anyone know whether this is a reality and whether I have by default ended back in the VW fold?
Any 'nice' feedback would be appreciated
Cheers

I don't think that there is any similarity other that it has 4 wheels and is similar in the size as Polo. But as long as you like the car and you're happy with your purchase, it's all good.

It's my understanding that VW owns 19.9% of Suzuki, and from that transaction Suzuki was to have used about half the proceeds to purchase a stake in VW (But I'm not sure if this has happened). I'm not aware of any collaboration in parts sharing other than I remember recently reading something about possibility of VW supplying engines for the Kazashi.
I think it fair to say as it stand today the comments above nail it "I don't think that there is any similarity other that it has 4 wheels and is similar in the size as Polo."
Thanks fella's,
Yeah frostee, I had read that and that's what got me thinking. Seem I added 2 + 2 and got 7!!
I know you all scoff but I traded from BMW to VW and was laughed at by many who felt it was NOT a pinch of ****e of the BM. Take it from me the Suzuki in this model has come a long way. It's not the Polo but you can see they are even light years in front of the crap it recently replaced.
Just so we are clear this is an inbetween car. I had a work leased golf wag and losed my job and had to get rid of it.
The swift will do me fine until I can save the penny's for the Polo GTi!! Can't wait

And endure the 18 month wait to get one! On a serious note, it is a pity you couldn't stump up the wait for the Polo, if you really wanted one, you could have probably got in the diesel sooner but I understand that when you want a specific model, now matter how hard someone tries to convince you otherwise, you will settle for nothing less, hence why I ordered the GTI!

Nothing yet just talks at this stage.
Maruti Suzuki and VW India will most likely see more joint ventures than Suzuki itself at this stage.

My wife owns and Alto and my daughter owns a Swift. Let me tell you, the quality, especially in the interior, is not very good at all. Very flimsy, but agree a lot better than Suzuki's efforts of 5 years ago. The Alto's are made in India BTW and not Japan.
