I have found if you drive it like you own it Not like you stole it you will have a lot less problems
Everyone has been a great help for me.
I called VW and told them about the shudder issues. My polo has done approx 19,000 km. They said they'll take a look at it on Monday. Lets see what happens ill keep you guys updated.
I've decided after all these comments I will only be driving the polo gti in manual. Sorry I am such a newbie but to do that I am guessing you put the gear stick in D and push it towards your left where the + - signs are and you can shift with the gear stick and flaps on the wheel. Is that correct?
And also when driving in manual is it better if you shift down as well or let the computer automatically do that for you ?

Occasionally the DSG will get in a mood and be a little jumpy in D or S for that matter. My old Golf and my current Polo GTI have done it. I recall seeing other people mention here also, that giving it a bit of "exercise" in S or manual usually makes them relax again. I know it's how mine behaves.
I have said this before, but don't get paranoid. If you want to sit there and listen for every noise or every fumbled gear change to have something to worry about...you will find something. But if you do that you won't be able to appreciate how great these things are 99% of the time and that the quirks are relatively minor in most cases and what bigger issues there are... comparable ones can be found in any other car you could buy as well.

I realise I am a very new owner (done 800ks only) and maybe I have been lucky so far with no oil use, no rattles in fact everything is bloody perfect - like many owners, many of who I suspect do not post on this forum, I love this car!
I drive 80% in D (dumb) with no issues with the DSG. If I was silly enough to give it a boot full while doing 3km/h in D2 then I expect I could get shudder.
Please note that I am not knocking this forum, quite the opposite - I have learned heaps from its members - THANK YOU.

Sorry osman for not being clear enough but I can't say I have experienced any shudder from the clutch/DSG, I was just suggesting "I could get shudder" if I accelerated hard at low revs and before the box kicked back to 1st gear. Your issue seems quite different to this - clutch slipping and grabbing maybe?

WOW very strange mine is literally the opposite.
If I accelerate low in first gear it gives a shudders. I have been driving it manual and absolute no shudder or nothing. Drives like a charm. Having said that will still be going to VW on Monday and let them check the issue out
Exactly right! With the DSG, you just learn how it behaves and it's very easy to get used to. Once you do get used to it, it's a dream to drive I have to admit, I do constantly listen and pay attention to everything the DSG does, but I try to not let that get in the way of enjoying what a smooth box the DSG can be.

I'm sorry, but this is utter bulltish. I treat my car like its irreplaceable and my dsg still **** itself, twice now and on its way for a 3rd time. The design of the dq200 is a f***ing joke and the sooner it is discontinue the better for all future vw owners. How about prcurrie who is up to his 2 full gearbox, 3rd or 4th set of clutches, 2nd mechatronics unit and the thing STILL isn't right. His car does mostly highway kms and its still rooted. I do 560kms a week and out of that, 520 are on the eastern freeway. The thing sits in either 1st or 7th for 70% of the time.
People much think I'm scare mongering, but why is it that when I, yes, me personally said I would take VGA to court over my dsg that miraculously a 5 year drivetrain warranty was issued? Because they know not only was I right in my arguments but that the gearbox is such a monumental failure that upon counting the costs, ongoing warranty support was going to be cheaper replacing gearboxes, mech units and clutches than people taking them to court or the Australian department of transport and infrastructure issuing a product safety recall and investigation.
