Question VW Polo 6R GTI quick take-off function

OK this might sound a little weird but the VW dealer I picked up my new 2012 Polo GTI from told me that I could could achieve quicker take-offs by switching 'off' the traction control, planting the accelerator to the floor with the brake on, that the engine would rev to 3,000 rpm (achieve something similar to a high stall converter).

    Is this fact or fiction?

There is nothing in the owner's manual about this, and I don't see anything on the internet about it either.

I don't really have any intention of using this function (if it exists), as I'll be looking after this baby, it's my pride & joy.
I'm just intrigued by this, that's all.

And if there's any other special functions on the 2012 Polo GTI such as rocket launchers etc, that aren't in the manual please let me know

Launch Control! that's it, how would I find out if my Polo GTI had it and if so where do I find out more about it.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't mentioned in the owners manual (which by the way seems unnecessarily over-complicated).

Could be a hidden feature. Best bet is to try it somewhere safe and maybe have a vag-com cable handy if it throws up any error codes

I think I'll leave it alone just intrigued whether my little GTI made it into the super-car stakes LOL.

You have been misinformed. The 7 speed dry clutch DSG on the Polo GTI does not support launch control. The Golf GTI uses a different 6 speed wet clutch DSG and has launch control.

    Tsuku is right.

Here is a thread discussing this very thing, started long ago, before many of us received our cars...
