The new test is just a revised and more precise method
Rather then the old lets top up your oil and see you in a thousand kays
As well all know, there is the issue with the VW Polo 6R using oil for its GTi engine.
I have been had issues with the car since new
- Car is currently using 1L of oil per 1000km.
- Engine is a CAVE
- Car has been to Chatswood Classic Cars (now NorthShore VW) for tests. they started the tests for oil consumption and about the 3rd time around stop documenting the usage amount.
- Car went to another dealer who has been pretty good with the testing. Originally was told VW needed several tests for oil consumption work. We did 3000km worth of tests (then vw said that is not enough tests).
- Car has done 5000km worth of testing and dealer forwards info on for rebuild of engine.
- VW apparently now has a test where a pc is plugged into the car and they drive around, do some measurements then and then drain oil and see how much is used in grams or something.
- So now after having to come back to vw dealer after 7000km of testing and having breather pipes and pcv valve changed, it seems vw are stalling or trying to delay rebuilding the engine.
My questions being....
What is this NEW test?
What has happened to anyone after having engine rebuild?
Has this stopped oil consumption or not?
The new test is just a revised and more precise method

Whats the engine compression numbers for all 4 cylinders using the dry and wet test?
Should be around 170+psi.
