My understanding is that Allianz have 2 types of extended new car warranties. One is VW specific, one is generic. From Reading both pds's there aren't many differences, but they are important ones. Most significant is Vw specific is repairs with genuine parts, generic is not. Had quotes the other day from broker:
24 months New Vehicle Warranty from Allianz for $1069.24
36 months New Vehicle Warranty from Allianz for $1430.78
36 months 75,000klm New Vehicle Warranty from Allianz for $1769.23
The above are for the generic ones. There is quite a cost difference to Vw specific, just beware that this may come at future cost.

VW Genuine Extended Warranty - 2012 Info

Ok people here is the latest mail:

As of Sept 16th 2012 I was quoted for the VW Genuine New Car Extended Warranty 24 months unlimited kms $1998.00 from Gold Coast Volkswagon (James Frizelles Southport) 2010 Tiguan.

(you will have to add the www ( goldcoastvolkswagen.com.au/)

I am not going to give you the reps name as I just rang cold and spoke to someone there, but I didnt go ahead with his quote I rang my own dealer in NSW and they matched the quote. So two dealers verified the price.

Now what you need to know is the following:

    1) There are two types of New Car Extended Warranty insurance cover on offer by VW dealers both are underwritten by Allliance

    2) One is the Volkswagon genuine 24months unlimited kms and the other is direct with Alliance which has a 2 or 3 year time and a km limit which is added to your vehicles km clock when your original 3 year warranty expires, there are two main differrences - the VW one uses VW genuine parts and the Alliance direct one allows the dealer to use generic part replacements.

    3) Both insurance options are offed by VW dealers and generally the VW one is more expensive than the Alliance direct one.

    4) The VW Genuine one starts at recommended retail $2995.00, which many dealers will quote you straight off.

    5) You can ring around Australia to get your quotes but you will need to still be covered under your existing VW 3 year new car warranty to be eligable ( even if you only have a week to go and if you bought the car second hand and the original warranty is still valid you can also buy the VW extended warranty. You will need to supply you model, year and current kms.

Best bet is to ring around and play one off against the other, if you get the VW genuine you can get the servicing done at any dealer Australia wide, but if you have a dealer you are already happy with get the best quote and then give then the chance to match it.

    * BE careful of aftermarket warrantys as many have small print that says you can only get the servicing done at that dealer, so if you are travelling you will not get servicing paid for under warranty.

CONCLUSION: My advice is get the genuine VW new car warranty and you wont be dissapointed, and if you are buying a new car get the VW b_stards to throw the extended warranty in with your new car purchase. It seems a pity VW doesnt just absorb the costs and offer all their new car with 5 years unlimited KMS warranty???????

P.S Thanks to "Watercooled" who started this forum so VW owners dont get ripped by the VW dealers, keep the info flowing people and keep the dealers honest !!! Please post your best new car warrantys here so as the years go buy we all get the benifit. My wife has a tiguan but come 2013 we are going to buy a new Amorak and replace our Tiguan. All the best.
