Thanks for all your feedback. I've collated your feedback and sored chronologically by build date. Great news yours is being built next week Michael (mr_bzr), If you hear from VW again would be great if you could possibly assertain if you picked up a cancelled order slot or something. Seems a bit different to the rest of us, when we do get allocated a build slot i doubt they will say its next week unfortunatley.
Reckless_Engineer and Peter seem to be first inline out of the 5 of us with march april orders, so i say you guys would get build slot updates first so please let us know if you do.

I ordered from Chatswood Classic Cars on 10 January 2011. I have just seen the NADCON, confirmed by VW Aus, that I will receive in March 2012 - if I don't rescind the contract beforehand!

    What spec did you order?

    Ridiculous delay

nothing extraordinary - xenon, better radio, comfort pack. standard red paint.

I have drawn a few conclusions about the way I have been treated by the dealer. Pretty sure I'll rescind for breach.

Hey, I'm fairly sure mine was moved up due to cancelled build slot, dealer told me so earlier before VW called. I was told when ordering to expect the car March/April 2012. Then got called in June saying that I just got a week 34 +/- build slot, the dealer was surprised too saying that a couple of people who ordered just before or after me are still waiting early 2012 for delivery.

So that is the conclusion I have drawn. stroke of luck.

I think life would be a lot simpler if people didn't accept a contract that put the delivery time 12-18months in the future. It rewards bad behaviour by both the dealers and VWA. It also leaves customers with a bad view of VW. Especially as now people are being supplied cars way out of the sequence in which they were initially ordered. How fair do you think customers see that?

So, it seems the two fleet salespersons I talked too were 1/2 right. They dread "selling" Polo GTIs because of the grief it causes them down the track. And judging by the price WE pay here in Australia I doubt there is a spectacular profit margin on one.

Full picture: Ordered 10 Jan 2011.
On contract: estimated delivery date was 28 August.
Later revised on a monthly basis until late Nov or early Dec 2011.
I off my own bat asked for NADCON ETA last week where I saw it wouldn't land in Aus until 29/2/12.
CCC did not have the courtesy to tell me that previously. I won't deal with Chatswood Classic Cars again.
VW Australia told me on phone that all dealers have always known it would be minimum 12 months. That may or may not be true.
I was prepared to wait from Jan to August. I would not have entered into the agreement if it had been even 1 week longer.

My order was placed (via a broker) through McGrath Volkswagen Sutherland on 11 Feb 2011. The day I signed, I was warned the delivery wait would be approx. 12 months.

In fact, when first test driving a GTI at VW Sutherland 1 week earlier, the salesmen told me that same week VW Aus had announced to all dealers a 12 month minimum wait applied for all GTI's ordered Feb onwards.

So at least I knew what I was in for. And I've insisted on receiving realistic updates, not optimistic ones. Even now VW Sutherland maintains an ETA of 29 Feb 2012 for my GTI.

VW Sutherland has been upfront and honest with me the entire time and I really appreciate that. No broken promises (yet) means no false hope for me.

It's a shame some of you guys haven't received the same courtesy.
