The sister in law is picking up her 77TSI on Sunday which is fresh off the boat. Will be interesting to see how it turned out. I'm not sure what options she actually got (other than the Panoramic sunroof).

Thanks for the info. It's good to know it still integrates somewhat with the MFD and RCD510. I'm looking forward to seeing the shots for the bluetooth, and your new ride as well. Cheers

So got a call from my dealer today.. he told me that, apparently, my fiance's 77TSI Polo did NOT get the "factory" bluetooth and MDI upgrades (even though the built date was in Jan 2012). Then he sorta turned it around by saying that "ohh after we found that out, we told VW Aust that we promised bluetooth and MDI for you guys. So they approved it and we'll install the bluetooth and MDI to your polo free of charge." --> he probably thinks he's doing me a favour..

Mind you, the initial ETA for the car was mid-late Dec. Then told us that it was pushed back because of the new MY12 upgrades...

Anyway, the car is ready for collection tomorrow but they've not fixed the bluetooth and MDI in yet. I'll have to bring it back mid week to get it fixed up, "free of charge, of course".

I'm still undecided if I'm happy about this or not..

Okay, so here is a couple of pictures of the Bluetooth "Touch" module on my dash, including with the module removed from the dock.

Ok swell I thought. Now i wanted to take some photos of the MFD showing how the touch adaptor (doesn't fully) integrate.

So anyway, I pressed back on the steering wheel controls, went into Bluetooth settings and it had the option to "add new device". Quite confused by this, i continued, it said "searching for phones, code 0000"... Anyway VW PHONE then popped up on my iPhone, and i put the pin code in and... behold!

I subsequently removed the touch adaptor from its dock and scratched my head...

So i went into my iphone, and it listed Airplay streaming available... and to my suprise I had Bluetooth Audio on my RCD510.

I also had the full address book in my MFD......

At this stage I was baffled. So I went to the passenger front seat thinking "ok maybe there is a second BT module?" Nope. Checked Drivers side seat.

    WHAT THE HELL?

So Volkswagen have included a 9w7 Bluetooth module in my GTI under the driver's seat - but not to be out-done have decided that the Polo must be fitted with two Bluetooth systems, and subsequently fitted the completely pointless touch unit to the dash?

    I am speechless.

Also, where's the MDI? Glovebox? works well?

That is great! Two for one
Thanks for the update. Do you think the Bluetooth touch module (including dock) can be removed from the dash?

The MDI is fine - it is in the glovebox, however the default MDI->iPhone/iPod cable is too short and thus leaves your iphone "hanging". Given i now have BT audio i'll probably not even use the MDI.

Dealer isnt aware at this stage - but i will show them soon.

As far as removing the touch module, its possible to remove it - but you will have a hole in the dashboard. A decent sized visible hole.

Ok so further experimintation reveals that the Touch adaptor is somehow looped in between the RCD510/MFD and the 9w7 unit.

Basically without the touch adaptor connected there is no Bluetooth functionality. With it connected, you can pair to the 9w7 and have streaming audio etc.

    Wierd.

Thats very interesting! At least i don't have to worry about buying a 9WZ and just have to figure out how to delete the Touch adapter.
