VCDS - Would like to learn

    Hi All

I would like to learn the basics on how to use VCDS or VAGCOM (whatever is the correct one) to personalise my 6R Comfortline Polo a little bit, like changing the DRL from Low beams to Foglights, setting auto lock when driving, and any other tricks I could do.

If anyone could help, I would like to know where I can buy a cable that will work properly and where to find any manuals and software that can help in me learning.

I have also posted in another thread, but got no response.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

    Luke.

Im sure there are plenty of people in Sydney that can help you out with learning. If you want your own cable, then you can support one of our forum sponsors and get it from DubAddiction.

I believe you need the more advanced/expensive version for the new Polo's (same as i have to use for my Golf) but im sure other Polo owners can confirm or deny this for you.

I also thought the Polo needed the HEXCAN cable. There is a program to download when you get your cable. The cable allows the programme to activate on your laptop. I use Windows 7 and 8.1 with no issues. I bought mine direct from ross-tech.com at the time when I bought my car. There are some odd bits with the programming but mostly, it is straight forward if you have done any computer work. There are "long codes" but the programme breaks them down and does all the calculations and checks that you have not made some bad coding. The ross-tech.com site has its own wiki area to look up codes or help with different setups. I use UK instruments in my Golf as it allows more options than the Aus instruments. If you find someone near you to help, you will quickly pick up most tricks. If you are bored, I can help but I am in Orange.
