Vavoline "Durablend" Engine Oil can it be used

Just found out that the VW Service Department that services my car has been using Vavoline "Durablend" Engine Oil in my 2011 VW Polo 77Tsi 7Speed DSG. Can anyone tell me if this is suitable for my car.

Its now done 102000Km and sounds like ive done another timing chain and tensioner.

Please Help

It depends on which of the following three VW oil standards can be used in the engine for your car:

501.01
502.00
504.00

This information should be available in the owners manual.

Diesel Vert - I think your last one should be 505.00.

To the OP: If they are using Durablend 10w-40 it's 502.00 which probably sneaks into the list of oils you can use. OTOH, it's semi-synth so that isn't great for a turbo IMO and it's 10w-40 which might be OK... or not.

In my 1.8tsi I run 502.00 0w-40 full synth & am pretty comfortable with that during the warmer summer months. Now we are getting into winter I'll probably go back to 5w-30.

Looking on the bright side, if you have a full VW service history then they should be giving warranty?

Wouldn't you want to stay on 0-40 for the winter as its thinner when cold which is better for cold starts?

They are fixing it under warranty, (waiting till tomorrow to find out if it is the timing chain and tensioner) But if it is then this is the 2nd chain and tensioner and the latest has only done 30000km. Im looking for anything for ammo to have my engine replaced....I have had nothing but 2years and 10 months of pain with this car.

The car sits in a garage that only gets down to 14 at night in winter. I'm 200m from the water so even the outside temp only bottoms at 6 at worst. Ambient max temps are up to 20c lower in Winter than Summer where I live. Therefore, hot viscosity is more important to me but I can understand that others would be more concerned about start-up if they parked outside or lived in chillier areas

ok just had another look on erWin.

it appears that the 50101/50500 has approval but not the 50200 or 50400....

as i do not have my cars manual as its in my car. can my car have any or all of these oils?????

If your car is a non-diesel polo then it's fine, if you have a diesel then it needs 502/504.
