Turning off ESP in a GTI

Sorry this is probably such a noob question but i am just curious to hear what people say.

What can i expect when turning off ESC in my GTI and should i drive with it on or off?

Of course the dealer said it should never really be turned off. I have heard i will get more power with it turned off?? Should i leave it on on the wet?

Just curious to see how people use the feature.

    Hi Tom,

If your unsure then leave it on

Perhaps do a defensive driving course with your Polo to learn a little more of what it would be like with ESP off in more controlled conditions..

In saying that apparently even with ESP off the Polo doesn't switch off the aids completely. (Fiesta ST *Cough* )

    Thanks.

I noticed on the touch screen i can activate ESC sport. Any ideas what that is compared or how it affects the car compared to turning ESC completly on or off?

ESC Sport gives you more slip with your wheels before ESC kicks in making easy to get the power down out of corners without losing power before the ESP kicks in.

If you are doing a track day, turn your ESP off completely as it will hamper getting on the power quickly and consistently, but you do lose the ability to avoid certain situations when your skill runs out.
