Tuned or not?

Just call the customer service at VW Au. , that's how I would start fixing it in your situation.

Ok thanks transporter and everyone else for all the replies, can anyone tell me though why the 13.5 model I drove yesterday was noticeably slower than mine, if mine couldn't possibly be tuned? All my car has is a front muffler delete and a k&n pod in the factory air box which wouldn't account for bugger all difference in my opinion

Different revision of factory software? Different build quality? Psychological aspect of subconsciously wanting the car to feel different?

Unless you logged the performance if the car then there is no quantifiable way to tell if the car is or isn't slower. Your car is going to sound demonstrably quicker than a stock car anyway, don't discount the effect of the auditory system on the sensation of speed, the amount of times people that just put an aftermarket air filter on the car and say "my bum dyno says it's quicker" yet they put it on a real dyno and it's actually LESS powerful is staggering. Was quite prevalent on here with R32 owners about 4-5 years ago.

If they're adamant that it's tuned, ask them to prove it. Your problem is that they're going to say that you tuned it after you bought it in which case you need to get stat decs from the players saying that the ecu in the my 13.5 GTI cannot be tuned...

Going back to early 2000's I worked for Alfa Romeo as a detailer whilst at uni. The difference in performance of the used cars was staggering. When they were new, was all pretty even. But used, some of them were fantastically powerful, yet others not much at all. They were sensitive to how they were ran in. If driven harder from the start, they were rockets. We all know these VW engines are sensitive, though not sure if these characteristics run true.

Hell yeah!

just ask where on the sales documentation did they reveal the car had a tune as you'd never have bought it with a tune.

Then ask where does the sales documentation say that the factory warranty had been voided because you'd never have bought a DSG7 without warranty.

At this point it's up to them to prove that the car has been tampered with since you purchased it.
