Sorry if this has been answered before (tried to go through the thread, but 35 pages!)...

How are some of you guys knowing which port the cars are leaving from? They're built in Spain, right? And how are you anticipating which ships they might ship on? I understand (from the Golf forum) if I have a VIN, I can see where my car is, but some of you are saying - oh, it's not on Boat X, therefore it must be the next one, Boat y... where are you getting this from? Which boats are next? Kind of fun tracking the boats on the marine traffic sight, but how to know which boats to concentrate on?

    Thanks!

It says in NADCON which port the car will leave from.

See Ohmang's post here for a screenshot
As far as the "next boat". The guys are just guessing as (probably more than) half the boats going to Bremerhaven won't even pick up any VW's...

If you go to page 1 of this thread there is a link to the golf tracking thread. Explains everything about how to track your car.

Basically we know that all Polos built in Spain are shipping from Bremerhaven and VW only use one shipping company. We can then look at their shipping schedules and hope our cars are on one of those boats! (Go search by ports and then click Bremerhaven Germany to wherever in Aus you are.)

    Schedules Selection

I warn you it's a painful process and you're going to get hugely disappointed every time a ship departs and you're not on it!

My car was built almost a month ago now.. surely I'm up soon!

Welcome to a new world of pain RoknRob Follow payno's advice and join the rest of us, "Inspector Poirots" playing russian roulette, or should I say, Bremerhaven Roulette Always eternal optimists here, "surely must be on the next boat" syndrome.

Oh, the Taiko is docked at Bremerhaven and the Tombarra is approaching the English channel heading to Zeebrugge.

Oh... I was wondering what you guys were doing and why none of you had considered a "Morning xxxx" ship as a possibility.

Whilst VW may only use one shipping company, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics actually also subcontract with other companies, such as Eukor Car Carriers. So you need to look at for more than just the W&W ships, because you could end up on any of the Eukor ships. Most of their RORO's are called "Morning something". For example, my Golf R came on the Morning Camilla.

W&W Logistics may also use other RORO carriers, but I'm not sure who they may be.

    Thanks!

Hey, thanks for all the information, guys! I look forward to the 'pain' of not being on a ship! Granted, after reading more posts, some of you do seem a bit (pathologically?) obsessed by the whole thing... Hopefully I can keep a clear head.

I know it will be difficult, though, as this is my dream car - inexpensive, powerful AND frugal! I am trading in a Mazda2 for a Polo GTI, and can hardly believe I will be saving fuel in the process... (although I say inexpensive... did you know you could get a Golf GTI in the US for less than Polo GTI here? Despite our excellent dollar... I don't believe it is a question of the difference in market sizes, though. VW is not considered a "premium brand" over there, and also, in the US you can find out what the dealer paid, and negotiate from there. Too bad CHOICE, or anyone for that matter, won't do that here....)

    Just got latest NADCON update from my Dealer. It looks like this;

Departure Port of Shipment 18/03/11 •
Departure last Port of Transit 12/04/11
Arrival at Port of Destination 23/05/11
Departure from Port of Destination 23/05/11
    Arrival at final Destination 24/05/11

Not sure how my cut and paste worked, but the status dot is on Departure Port of Shipment. He Joe, is there a ship leaving on 12th April?

Looks like will be June delivery if these dates are correct

(Answers for Joe) Not with Willenius Wilhelmsen there isn't, there's one on the 15th...

None of us are showing up on the Eukor site either, i'd say that the dots is there because it's due to be loaded sometime between the 18 march and 26th april....

Hey frostee - could you throw up the whole NADCON screenshot - with all the other dates for the other steps as well?

I'd be interested to see them so I can make an attempt at extrapolating your data and give me an idea about mine. It is for a golf gti but yours may provide some insight for me..
