Seems like it does if you have an ETA of FEB 2012..... spoke top the dealer today and he also said it would be highly unlikely the car would be a 2012 build.

Sorry, when you intially posted your comments, I thought you were thinking that for some reason the cars were already built and something else was holding them up, as what you are complaining about is a normal fact of life.

If you order in 2011, and you take delivery of your car in April 2012 (maybe even March), then you'll have a 2012 built car & complianced car.
If you order in 2011 and you take delivery in February 2012, then you'll have a 2011 built & 2012 complianced car.

This is how it works for any imported car. Since they haven't imported teleporters yet, they have to use ships to transport cars. That's the reality of it.

I bought a Toyota off the floor in Oct 2001 and it was built in June 2001. I waited 6 months for a Golf R and got it in December 2010 and it was built in September 2010. Yes, getting cars very early in the year means you've crossed a calendar year. I'm sure if you really objected to it, you could swap your built slot with a customer who won't be getting their car until later in 2012.

But all cars depreciate, so I'm not sure what it is that you're complaining about. If you don't like depreciation, don't buy a car, and especially not a new car.

Not all cars depreciate in value.

    Tracking

Ordered my Polo GTI in Early December. Basically left it up to the dealer to get what he could with no specific options except wanting leatherette, ended up with Leather+Comfort + Audio pack + Metallic some of which was heavily discounted because "I didn't need them in the first place". Had to take a compromise on the colour and options I didn't really need, but happy to have none-the-less.

It seems most people have had their delivery dates pushed back, but I used the tracking advise on this thread and it has now Landed in Brisbane off Don Carlos boat from Bremerhaven. Shouldn't be too long now! have been told in two weeks by the dealer yesterday. What a relief!

They're the people who accepted the order and the people who are responsible for pushing my needs as THEIR customer. I'm paying them to care. They are the ones who can change the outcome. So if I want to influence what happens for me then I have to push the dealer to push VWA to push VAG to push the factory.

And so which customers, or probalby more importantly, which countries, do you think that VW should stop selling to in order to give you what you want?

I mean, that's what it comes down to. The factory is at maximum capacity, so for Volkswagen Group Australia to get more orders, some other country needs to get less and some other equally deserving people need to miss out so that we get more...

Or would you have preferred that they didn't accept the order, that they just didn't make the car available at all in this country until a few years later when the demand has died off, or more factories have been built?

Grant to us the serenity of mind to accept that which cannot be changed; courage to change that which can be changed, and wisdom to know the one from the other.

    That's VW's problem. They've accepted my order.

So, we should all just sit around like suckers because VW have screwed up their *volume* car manufacturing? Because that's what you're saying.

Or would you have preferred that they didn't accept the order, that they just didn't make the car available at all in this country until a few years later when the demand has died off, or more factories have been built?
Being honest with the consumer when they order is the key here. I ordered based on a week9 build and delivery in late May. VW have taken that build slot from the dealer to *SERVICE SOMEONE ELSE* so why shouldn't I be blaming the heck out of them?

There is an article on the main page of the vwwatercooled.org.au website talking about how there was a 16.5% increase in global sales for VW; which is probably a good reason for delays. I guess this was always going to happen with the cars cleaning up awards the world over.

Corey has given some good advice on other threads regarding what to do in wait times.

Getting back to the topic; I found the boat tracking website mentioned in the Golf forum excellent, I was able to track from pre-loading to unloading which happened yesterday. As for NADCON, I regularly checked with my dealer [Probably a little too regularly for their liking] and found that a lot of the information including the VIN was't populated till basically the week of the build.
