Sorry, when you intially posted your comments, I thought you were thinking that for some reason the cars were already built and something else was holding them up, as what you are complaining about is a normal fact of life.
If you order in 2011, and you take delivery of your car in April 2012 (maybe even March), then you'll have a 2012 built car & complianced car.
If you order in 2011 and you take delivery in February 2012, then you'll have a 2011 built & 2012 complianced car.
This is how it works for any imported car. Since they haven't imported teleporters yet, they have to use ships to transport cars. That's the reality of it.
I bought a Toyota off the floor in Oct 2001 and it was built in June 2001. I waited 6 months for a Golf R and got it in December 2010 and it was built in September 2010. Yes, getting cars very early in the year means you've crossed a calendar year. I'm sure if you really objected to it, you could swap your built slot with a customer who won't be getting their car until later in 2012.
But all cars depreciate, so I'm not sure what it is that you're complaining about. If you don't like depreciation, don't buy a car, and especially not a new car.
