    Touch Adapter Voice V2 - I don't get what it's for

I have a MY12.5 with thing and I don't understand what it adds to the built in BT.
I've also found that it doesn't play well with the iPhone and I've actually paired it with the non Touch Adapter BT rather than the Touch.

If anyone can explain the benefits or additional features, I'd love to know.

Have a read of these two threads as it is being discussed recently:

The only key benefit of the Touch Adapter is that it works with the bog-standard, no boxes ticked Polo Trendline, Comfortline and TDI. This is because the 9W7 (which shows up as 'VW Phone') needs either a RCD/RNS 510, a MFD+ Cluster Screen or Both.

But the RCD510 and the MFD+ Cluster Screen are standard on the Polo GTI, so I can only assume that it's present on the GTI because someone at VWA got confused when speccing the MY12.5 changes.

I'm still waiting on my Polo to arrive but when it does I'll post some extra info on the units (and hopefully a removal tutorial)

There's been quite a bit of talk in the bluetooth thingie thread NRD80Y linked since and the best main solutions are
    A) Replacing the touch screen unit with a VW cradle for your phone, allowing you to see your screen and charge - Check the BT thingie thread
    B) Removing the Touch screen unit, leaving the cradle bare, you'll need VCDS for this or the BT will bitch and shutdown - Check out my sig for that

No one has gone as far as to take the cradle off and patch up the hole, personally with the cradle bare I don't really notice it and nor do passengers

I'm not the most technicaly minded person, so I'm wondering if the dealer will be able to remove the touch screen from the cradle. I have my phone paired through the standed stearing wheel mounted BT and for some reason the other night the touch adapter decided it was going to take over, what a nightmare!!! I don't get it, the voice dialing is rubbish, and to use is without that is no safer or easier than just using your phone, and to top it off it was ridiculously difficult to get it to pair with the standard BT again instead of the touch adpator. If i can get this canned, i'll be all for it!

Anyone familiar with VCDS should be able to follow it, theres a list of the people with VCDS cables who can help out here.

As far as I know most dealers are unwilling to do it or might not know how.
