    Sydney to Melbourne!

    Hello all!

I have done this for the second time yesterday!.... Just thought I would fill you in on my Fuel consumption and time.

    In my 77TSI I only averaged 6.1L/100km at 112km/h.

I stopped at Yass for a quick refuel, lunch and stretch which ended up being a great idea... I only put $25 of fuel in and the car got me straight to Melbourne from there....

The horribleness that occured however was that when I hit the Bolte Bridge I was in a huge traffic jam because of a bus load of pensioners ended up on fire near burke road. (which is horrible obviously)

At that stage I had completed 8hrs 30 mins engine running time.

Didn't manage to get to my destination in Richmond until the 9hrs 15 mins mark because of the traffic jam....nightmare...But least it gave the car a great way of cooling down to a certain degree apart from her nice long run turning into start stop traffic.

I have about 80km's worth of fuel left. I ran it all the way on 98RON.

Going to check its oils and fluids today.

Just thought people would be interested in this..

Considering how bad the weather was and how busy that part of the freeway usually gets around 5pm+ I thought I got past that bus in decent time (you have to know which lane to be in at the right time though to get past everyone).

I once drove from the SE Suburbs to Aubury (spirited driving through the twisty mountains roads via Healesville, Alexandria, Mansfield, Whitfield) and then back down the Hume to the SE suburbs again on one tank, wasn't expecting that considering the good workout I gave the engine.

Great performer on long journeys eh......Wish it could do the whole 9 yards on one tank...To be fair if it had a 60 litre tank I reckon it would make it easily....Still does remarkable on 45 litres of fuel though.....

I really want to do the mountain roads...I just never have time to be fair...Maybe this summer..I might go for it.

Being in the SE suburbs and driving quickly enough (most roads are 100kph despite the twists) and as long as you're not held up or have enough torque to overtake it's quicker than the Hume, esp if the freeways are host to peak hour traffic). Of course if you don't want to end up in Emerald just make an early diversion and head for Lylidale/Eastlink.

None on the twisty/leafy bits, I have seen a mobile one on the road between Healesville and Launching Place once though.
